Re: Third Space to open new health and fitness club in Clapham Junctions's old Arding & Hobbs building

It is about £200 a month. (Mayfair is more expensive). For that get access to all the clubs, other than Mayfair. Been a member for years - go about 5 times a week. Very good gyms. Think I have seen a child about once. All the classes and facilities are aimed at adults. But you need to contact them d...

Re: Happy Christmas, not "Happy Holidays" please!

I think I prefer happy Christmas. Anything else seems a bit like avoiding the obvious issue. I worked for an Indian company for years. They would wish me Happy Christmas and I would wish them Happy Diwali. And no one ever thought about it.

Re: Where to have an ebike serviced?

Sort about that. I met someone today (Tremayne) used to work for VanMoof (electric bike company who went bankrupt). He travels around and they work on electric bikes trey@forbiddencycles.com

Re: Where to have an ebike serviced?

Clapham Cycles are conventional bike shop - but (I think) they do also sell electric bikes, so should be able to help. I use them for my conventional bike repairs and they have been very good

Virgin Media

We live in Lavender Sweep. Our Virgin Media service has been hopeless for some weeks. We had no internet or television for about a week over Christmas. Since then we have had intermittent service. And although the internet has been working for the last two weeks, we have had no television for 6 days...

Re: Classical pilates classes

If you want proper, classical Pilates, based on equipment, and classical movements, then Pi Studios on Parkgate Road is the place to go. Reformer, tower, cadillac etc. For Classical Pi is as good as it gets. Different instructors teaching and different level classes, from beginner classes to session...

Rising damp

We have owned our house for about 10 years and in the past 3 months we have developed quite bad damp. We have done various bits of work - and need to speak to a sensible builder or specialist who can think through the issue - because it doesn’t seem to be simple. Any recommendations gratefully recei...

Re: Time of Veolia Refuse Collections

As a follow up - yesterday the lorry came round at 08.00. This resulted in a long queue of cars behind the lorry and drivers tooting their horns and shouting at the bin men to move over and let them go past. Totally unreasonable - and probably why they prefer to do it early.

Re: Time of Veolia Refuse Collections

They do wake me up - but it doesn’t bother me. I tend to just think ‘that is a tough job’. I think trying to get it done before the traffic builds up makes sense. Let’s just hope the change to Labour doesn’t mess the whole thing up.

Re: Advice or recommendation on removal services

Thanks for that. Got it sorted. Very hard to get anyone to quote. Only Britannia ever replied. They seemed to do a good job at my end. My chum was sentimentally attached to the stuff. Personally I probably would have bonfired the lot. Hopefully it arrives with him soon

Advice or recommendation on removal services

I offered to look after a friends furniture for a bit - whilst they got sorted. 5 years later and they are finally sorted. I need to send it to California. I think what is called a ‘part load’. Any recommendations or advice?

Re: Tramp in local coffee shop

Maybe it is the same place. Our local independent coffee shop does the same. We think it is positive. It is a tough enough world out there.

Re: Loft Conversion

I used Landmark Lofts. Would not recommend them. Don’t be fooled by the idea that there is a project manager - you have to be available and sort things out. They didn’t foresee problems. The workmen were great - the company was feeble. Still can’t open the French doors properly!
