Re: Roche versus hurlingham - Putney prep schools ?

The Roche is also an excellent school. Warm, nuturing, family feel. It is well organised, very experienced staff and head and 35 scholarships at 11+ for last year’s cohort of just 2 small classes.
You can’t go wrong with either of these two schools. They are both really good.

Re: Girls secondaries - what's the real vibe?

utney High, Wimbledon High and Tiffin girls are all highly academically competitive to secure a place. Once there, if your daughter is genuinely bright (Cat score above 125 at least), and not over tutored to get in, they’ll be fine. They all deliver an excellent education. What is hard is being in a...

Re: Questions about Ibstock Place?

Ibstock is a school with great facilities which tend to wow any child who visits. It does have some wealthy families due to where it is but not more so many other independent schools. In my view however it is not any better than the other schools you mention. I turned right off it during our search ...

Re: Anti ageing creams do they work?

I agree with Kirsty’s Mom above. The only ingredients that make an anti age difference are SPF and retinol. The retinol needs to be in the correct % quantity in the cream and applied in at night cream as it can make your skin more susceptible to UV.

Re: Independent secondary for smart boy with severe anxiety

Those adaptations feel perfectly reasonable to me and not at all difficult for the school to support at all.   In the workplace, employment law supports people with protected characteristics to have reasonable adjustments made for them, so why on earth can't the school support these minor adaptation...

Re: Putney High School and JAGS

There was a thread on this quite recently where I and another couple of people replied so maybe worth trying to find that.

Re: Putney High vs Wimbledon High Junior School

I agree with TooManyCars - go for Putney and then you have the bus as an option for travel. It also means that your DD will have this as an option when she becomes an  independent at around year 7.  Putney High Juniors school is wonderful and probably very similar to Wimbledon High. You won't regret...

Re: JAGS vs Putney High School

Putney has many girls who are not into sport at all and get involved in other things instead. The extra curricular offer is huge and sport is by no means the ‘be all and end all’. There are several orchestras and choirs, academics clubs, book club, drama club, engineering, medical society etc. In ye...

Re: JAGS vs Putney High School

Hi SW11 Resident I too have a daughter at PHS, she has been there since the junior school, and we are very happy with it. It is indeed a lovely, happy 'can do' type of place with a huge amount of diverse opportunities, great teaching and a positive, confident culture.  Academically, they go at quite...

Re: Views on Streatham and Clapham Girls senior school please

Thank you for that honest feedback about the school. I had heard about the lack of inclusivity in sport, which is such a shame. The staff turnover is also a red flag but I suppose it can happen in waves. Does anyone have a bit more information about the academics and whole value added thing? Do they...

Re: Down to earth private primaries

@Anne123 I would just say that many parents choose schools for way more than academic educational challenge and development. They choose on ethos, values, educational philosophy, diversity, pastoral care, SEN provision (including for those with very high IQ) etc. Personally, I think The Roche delive...

Re: South London volunteer Covid vaccinators needed

For anyone who’s interested, I would recommend watching the programme ‘Unvaccinated’ which is currently available on BBC iplayer. It is a sensitive piece around why some people have so far refused the vaccine and provides good science and evidence about Covid vaccines, from real and credible experts...

Re: JAGS vs Putney High School

Hi. I have a niece who went to JAGS a few years ago and have a daughter at Putney High now. From what I can see, they are both quite similar. Academically very strong, so you need to have a child that can manage in that environment. Having said that, not all girls there are geniuses, but you are in ...

Re: Down to earth private primaries

Slightly depends on where you’ll live but if in or around Wandsworth, you can’t beat The Roche School. It sounds perfect for what you’re after. Has had many, many fabulous reviews. I’ve been very pleased with it for my child.
