40 birthday party...at home? Ideas for alternative places

Hi everyone, My husband is turning 40 and wants to throw a big party to celebrate. The problem is that he wants to host it at home. Not an issue if we had a massive house and garden but we are on a terraced Victorian with a smallish garden and he wants to squeeze 50 people in here. Not even sure whe...

Re: Views on Eveline Day Nursery

A bit shocked by this. Had friends with children at Eveline and they all had really good experiences.

Re: Private v state primary

Hi Silverbirch, I don't seem to have the option to PM you but just wondering if you could give details of which school you had this bad experience with. We are about to move my eldest from state primary to an independent school that is small and has no governors and reading your post made me fearful...

Interior designer cost?

Hi, Wondering if anyone can offer some light. We have a huge renovation project in our hands. We have contacted a few interior designers to try and get some help with sourcing & project management. We have young children and both work full time so time is short. We have been quoted around £710+V...

Eveline Day School - looking for second hand uniform

Hi everyone, Looking for second hand uniform for my daughter who will be starting Y1 in September. Specially interested in the blazer. My daughter is tall for her age and normally wears clothes one size up so looking for something that would fit a 7 year old unless the standard size comes out big an...

Re: Views on Woodentops Nursery Clapham

Woodentops is a lovely nursery with great staff. They are really strong on the educational side and also have a lot of extra activities for the children which really enrich the experience. The only point to raise, and one I struggled a bit with, is that they can be a lot more routine led than child ...

Re: Options for late applicant to start private in September

You looking for primary or secondary?

If primary, you can try Eveline Day (Balham), Oliver House (Clapham South) or the White House (near-miss Clapham South).

Re: Balham primary schools

Ravenstone is indeed a very good school. The head is very inspiring and devoted to making the school a great place for the children. The ethos is one of inclusivity and the school has developed school characters that drive the children do be their best. They can be Cally Creative, Dorothy determined...

Re: Private v state primary

Very interested in opinions as well.

Our eldest is at an lovely state school but is quite reserved. I do wonder how much attention she receives from the teacher when there are 29 other children in the classroom & how much she would benefit from a more tailored approach.

Re: Schools Admitting More Pupils

Yes - nursery, reception, Y1 and Y6 are already back on the same configuration. The other years will be starting in the next few weeks, so yes, before summer holidays.

Re: Schools Admitting More Pupils

Our primary state school will be opening gradually to all year groups but splitting students in 2 groups. Group A will attend on Mondays/Tuesdays and group B will attend on Wednesday/Thursday.

Key question is what they will do when September comes. A big unknown currently.

Re: Eveline Day School

Thank you alexi for this feedback.
Indeed - the school is located at Balham High road. They have nurseries in different locations but only one school I believe.
