Re: Kitchen companies - views on Blakes, Eclectic, Sola and others?

I would avoid Sola. Slow, not very responsive after installation (they never came back to finish the last few snags), and the finish was poor and does not last at all well. The bottom of most my cupboards and drawers blistered after less than a year. Happy to chat, show pictures if you want to pm me.

Wanted- temporary or permanent au pair

We are looking for an au pair ASAP. We would consider someone who can stay for only a term, or for longer. Our last au pair is leaving us after 2 years to do other things. Duties primarily involve after school care for two boys aged 9 and 11, and looking after a 1 year old dog, who is very excitable...

Re: Nanny Tax or Nanny PAYE? Or other??

I've always done it myself. It's not that difficult - you need to register for PAYE with HMRC as a small employer, and they have lots of guidance on their website. They have free software for which you essentially enter the pay details every time you pay and they calculate the net pay, employees NI,...

Re: Help! Moving back to London

Another thing to remember is that just about ALL the private schools have places freeing up just before term starts because people move away, or are holding the place in case they don't get into state school. So if you get on waiting lists and phone around closer to the time you're almost certainly ...

Re: Private swimming lessons

There are two sets of private lessons at Trinity Crescent. One you can reach by emailing alison@aquabank.co.uk (but she isn't always very good at returning messages) and I don't know who the other is. My boys do swimming with her with a teacher called Cindy who is very very good.

Re: Council elections - how to vote

Thanks. I'm the mum of a 4 year old who is yet to be offered a place in reception in September and I do feel quite betrayed (possibibly too strong a term) by the assurances at the Belleville expansion meeting that "the expansion would eliminate the demand mismatch". It seems to me that the...

Re: Council elections - how to vote

Thanks! I have finally got round to reading the local manifestos - the differences are interesting. Labour doesn't think it has a chance and hasn't bothered. Conservatives have been in for 30 years - so seems fair to place at least some of the blame of current situation on them. Lib Dem say reasonab...

Council elections - how to vote

Hello everyone.

Anyone got any ideas how the various council election candidates stand on schools - both primary places and the neighbourhood schools campaign?
