Re: Eczema Specialist

It's worth getting in to see an expert in this, especially if your child hasn't already had comprehensive allergy tests. Dr. Helen Cox is one of the best specialists in childhood eczema in London, particularly in relation to food and environmental allergies. She sees patients at the Cromwell, so clo...

Re: Happy Christmas, not "Happy Holidays" please!

In your own household you may prefer "Happy Christmas" but the NVN newsletter is not a personal Christmas card being sent exclusively to your household. It is sent to a large, diverse community that includes plenty of people who celebrate non-Xmas holidays at this time of year. 47% of Wand...

Re: Roche versus hurlingham - Putney prep schools ?

Have you visited both? They are very different schools. We looked at both and immediately eliminated Roche. It felt chaotic, cramped, and not academically rigorous enough. I like Hurlingham but it was ultimately too far away for us and we chose a different school.

Re: Thomas's Clapham, Belleville or Honeywell?

We were in this position and chose Thomas's. I can't speak first hand about the other schools but can share what I know from first-hand experience of T's and second hand (via friends) of B and H.  First off, they are all great schools. I don't think there is a mistake to be made here. It's about pri...

Re: Thomas' Clapham

Agree with everything shared above. The school is plenty academic and will challenge bright kids, but the thing that impresses me the most as a parent is the level of care that is given across the board. For such a big school, it is truly remarkable how much individual attention is given to nurturin...

Re: Spa within hour and a half of London?

Alexander House is lovely and ticks all those boxes. It's about halfway to Gatwick.

Re: Thomas’s Clapham

Same as mummyonthego. I'm a current T's Clapham reception parent. Our child walked in not able to read a word in September and now she reads everything with ease and joy. No need for any tutors and I haven't heard of anyone using them in her class. I never even considered the possibility of it at th...

Re: Thomas's Clapham Ballot Rigged?

Agree with Btc_mum. Some of the PP comments do not reflect our own experience with the school. Our child is happy, thriving both academically and socially, and bounces into and out of school every day. The teachers are impressive, as is the senior leadership team. In conversation with other parents,...

Re: Free local author Storytime: Wandsworth library tour for Pride Month!!

@readysteadycook give it a rest. You're basically searching for anything vaguely LGBTQ+ related and attacking people at this point. Nobody is asking, much less forcing, you or your kids to attend these events, or any others. You have talked a lot about the importance of free speech and being able to...

Re: In need of a stylist recommendation for curly hair

100% Dylan Bray at Barnes and Bray in Wandsworth.Town. He really knows curls and pretty much exclusively cuts curls. He's a bit of a miracle worker to be honest.

Re: Local Gym Recommendations

There is a new Third Space opening soon in Battersea power station later this year and another due to open up in the redeveloped Arding and Hobbs at Clapham junction. That said, in the meantime, you could check out Milo and the Bull or F45 for good functional fitness classes in the area. Or one of t...

Re: Help! Toddler Eczema

Just echoing a post above, my daughter also sees Dr Helen Cox for her allergies and eczema and I highly recommend her. I am a huge advocate of the NHS and we have a wonderful NHS GP who handles our everyday medical needs very well, but pediatric allergies and eczema are two things that the GPs just ...

Re: Swimming teacher for ADHD kid

Swimway is brilliant. Teachers in general are great, patient, kind, and give very personal lessons. I can't speak specifically to ADHD provisions, but I think if you called their office, they could advise if they have specific teachers they would recommend.
