Does the theatre scene like our West end and Broadway exist in Paris?

Can anyone help answer this question that neither me nor my husband can fathom. Do other capital cities like Paris have a theatre scene like we do here and on Broadway? Off to Paris soon and wondered if we would be able to see a show. If there is such a scene could someone recommend one?
