Re: what's the perfect age gap between siblings?

I'm about to have a 5.5 yr age gap between mine. My eldest is at school, and is very excited about the prospect of a new arrival so far (as are most of her friends ..... having a girl first perhaps makes this easier ?). So I'm thinking I'll get baby-time whilst the elder is at school, and less jealo...

Re: Anyone else get harangued outside Northcote Library today?!

Well said ! I had much the same experience, I tried to engage in conversation with one of them to genuinely find out more and got little more than a "people like you" tirade in return. Appalling. Did little to help their cause. Next time they set up 'camp' in a certain area I suggest they ...

Re: Breakfast club Honeywell

Hello, We've just started using the breakfast club after my daughter started in Reception in September, and I can't recommend it highly enough. I was worried beforehand at how it may be, with the older children plus the little ones - but any fears were unfounded. It's in a large space (dining hall),...

After school nanny needed 3-4 days per week

Hello, A friend and I are looking for an after school nanny for our two children, a boy and a girl both aged 4 (who adore one another !), who are due to start at Honeywell Infants in September. We both live very locally to one another, the childcare would be at either of our homes (plus the commons,...

Re: Belleville and Honeywell schools

I live in Wroughton Road and had a similar dilemma (my daughter is starting in September though, so is a year older). I don't think Honeywell do guarantee their nursery children a reception place, in fact I'm almost certain they don't. Though you're right that they are a foundation school and have a...

Part time nanny wanted for pre school drop off / pick up

Hi, Does anyone know where I can find a nanny who would be available from 7am to take my daughter to pre school, and then from (approx) 5pm to 7pm in the evenings for pick up and some playtime / reading time / supper in the evenings until I or my partner get home from work. I would need somebody 3 d...

Re: Best Play Kitchen

We got the GLTC wooden one that comes in 3 parts last year. It's great for space saving as you can move the 'blocks' around to suit the space. I also worried that the more pretty wooden ones may not be as fun as the plastic fantastics, but honestly it's been a real hit. My daughter and all her frien...

Re: Hotmilk - this is SO wrong

I think it's nice to have a 'pretty' bra whilst feeding, perhaps not a sexy one, but a pretty one is good. The name though - URGH !!!! It made me feela little queasy when I first saw 'hot milk'. Conjures all sorts of images (and, sorry to be blunt, but smells) that I just don't need in my head. :sho...

Re: Btwn the Commons & not accepted to Honeywell or Belleville??

Walking distance, by lighted roads I think - so no cutting across grass or housing estates, LOL ! As the previous poster said though, it's not an official catchment area, they just publish last year's succesful applicants distance as a guide. This year I expect it will be less again. I know Bellevil...

Re: Btwn the Commons & not accepted to Honeywell or Belleville??

We've just bought a house to be in catchment for both schools, particularly Honeywell, and I wanted to be 400 metres or under to feel 'certain'. Canford Rd would really struggle to get in I think.

I know Alfriston Rd can be touch and go and I *think* that's closer than Canford.

Re: How soon do I have to worry about primary schools_

At the insistance of my husband I put our son down for Eaton House, Thomas' and one other (can't even remember) at 6 weeks old. By that stage I was told he could have a place at two of them but only waiting list for the other and for the nurseries I was told "all the June babies have been regi...

Re: How soon do I have to worry about primary schools_

I put my daughter down for Thomas's at 10 months. With private schools it really is best to get their name on the list asap, then you'll be called to take any tests / interviews when they reach 3 (or so). Thankfully we're moving into the Honeywell cathcment now (she's 3 now), you apply there between...

Re: Which is best Chelsea or Kingston maternity units?

I had my daughter at C&W in 2006. It was a bit of a manic time as their birthing pools had been shut down. Labour was ok, a few bad experiences but an amazing doctor at the end whose quick thinking was very much needed. The aftercare I felt let down on. The staff were rude and quite unsympatheti...
