Re: Utility Bills

We are a family of four living in a 4 bed house on a dual gas / electricity tariff. We work from home (one person 5 days a week and the other 2 days a week). Our bills are significantly lower than the original poster - around £1,400 a year. We pay a monthly DD of £117 a month through Outfox the Mark...

Re: Primary School in Wandsworth

My children are at Shaftesbury Park with my eldest in year 6 having started in reception. It’s a lovely, small and friendly school that gets really good results, and gives excellent support for children of all abilities. We like that it has a very mixed intake of children from many different nationa...

Re: Lockdown learning - is your school offering live lessons?

Shaftesbury Park is running a full timetable of live learning online this lockdown. The children have zoom registration at the start of each day, and then live lessons on zoom. The teacher gives them tasks to complete in google classroom by a deadline with the teacher on hand to help them if they ge...

Year 6 / 11+ applications 2020

I wrote to Wandsworth Council to raise concerns about children receiving their test scores for the Wandsworth Test (scheduled for 3/12) and for grammar schools (exams now in November) after the secondary school entry deadline On 31/10. I asked if we could change our school preferences when we get ou...

Our lovely Au Pair is available from 30 August

Our lovely French au pair is flying back to London on 30 August having been back home during lockdown. Unfortunately, we no longer need an au pair as I have lost my job and so have swapped full-time work for being a stay at home mum. I work in one of the sectors worst hit by COVID redundancies and s...

Re: Wandsworth (11+) test

Thank you for the replies, which are incredibly helpful. 😁

We will keep practicing the VR and NVR and see if my DS can get anywhere near the score required for Graveney!

Wandsworth (11+) test

We have heard from our school that the Wandsworth test is being delayed to November or December presumably to give the children more time to prepare given the school closures. This mainly feels like good news except I am guessing this will mean applying for a selective entry school such as Graveney ...

Re: What's your school doing re: opening 1 June?

Shaftesbury Park Primary (it is is a local authority school rather than academy) is opening for the early years after half term and two weeks later for year 6.

There is no indication yet if other year groups will return before the autumn.

Re: Choosing between schools

All really useful insights as we are also looking at secondary school choices. We have been to the Witgift, Emmanuel and Kings open days. Few things to add from those visits: - Emmanuel is introducing football to their main curriculum - Witgift has a French section which teaches the French national ...

Au pair ‘pocket money’

We are about to hire an au pair for the first time and would love some insights in to the going rate in SW11? We aren’t too sure what we should pay per week and also if we should include any extras such as an oyster or bus pass, gym membership or language school fees. I would be grateful for any adv...
