Re: Live in Au Pair

I think the general recommendation is an au pair works up to 25 hours and get £80-£100 per week and au pair plus works up to 35 hours and get £100-£120 per week. Generally they should not have sole charge of children under 2 years and only do light house work....they are not a nanny or a cleaner. Th...

Re: Lower 1st fl bedroom ceiling to covert loft?

We did this a few years ago. All the houses around us do the same if they want to convert the loft since the pitch of the roof is not high enough. We lowered the ceilings in the front two bedroom and lived in the back bedroom while the work was being done. It was very dusty and cost more than a stan...

Re: Advice re childcare for maternity leave with toddler

When my second was born my first was only 16 months old. I kept my son in nursery for 2 full days throughout my year off and yes the bedtime routine was hard to start....I think a 4-7pm help each day would have been useful in the first 3 months but that might be hard to find I think my son would hav...

Re: Cheeky Fox - A warning to all Parents with Young Ones

Don't presume they can't! We are joined to our neighbours by our side returns and a few day ago, in the evening while i was in the garden, watering plants a medium sized fox ran along the wall between our gardens. A cat was laying on the wall and moved very fast, I was rather shocked! I think it had...

Re: Battersea Park closed due to Formula E

We live verry close to the park and have a dog who is walked in the park everyday, so the closure will be annoyed....however we (well particularly my son and husband) are really looking forward to the event! Tickets went on sale a couple of weeks ago and the cheapest are reasonably priced. At seems ...

Re: How much you pay your Cleaner

We pay ours £10 an hour.
We give her a 2 week bonus at Christmas and pay her for 2 weeks of her 4 week summer holiday.
So we pay for 12 months and we only works 11 months.
She is very good and I want to keep her!

Re: Specialist Dyslexia Schools

I would strongly recommend that you visit these schools to get a feels for them. Having spoken to staff/parents in the past some of the children at both schools have more complex needs such as dyspraxia, ADHD and/or social communication difficulties (although both schools don't specialist in ADHD/AS...

Re: Child with behavioral problems

If your child is at a state school the Special Needs/Inclusion co-ordinator can /should refer to the school's Educational Psychologist. They can provide advice to the school staff and the parents and refer to CAMHS. Re: Disposable or reusable nappies?

I used reusable nappies for both my children. They are a bit harder work than disposables but once you get used to them they are fine. I lived in Fulham when I had my first child and at the time (2008/9) the council gave all new parents £30 towards cloth nappies they also hosted monthly events calle...
