Re: Private versus NHS for birth

Have you considered a private midwife as a halfway house? We used the fantastic Neighbourhood midwives.

Re: Husband wants to go on holiday on his own

His 'one chance' was before he had children, though, of course, you could always go once the kids have grown up. (I don't think a lot of gap year kids can tell the difference between a 40 year old and a 50 year old anyway.) Also you could fit some quite amazing adventures into a six week school holi...

Re: Bespoke Housekeeping, budgeting and financial admin serv

Do you mind me asking more about how this works please? For example, would he call up the mobile/insurance/broadband provider and switch on your behalf, or does he tell you the best and you arrange yourself to change them? Thanks!

Would anyone recommend their childminder? (Tooting/Balham)

Hi, we are looking for a lovely childminder for our 11-month-old baby girl. Would anyone recommend theirs please?

Ideally in Tooting/Balham, but would consider further afield if you know someone fab. Thanks very much.

Re: Confused and frustrated over Internet Provider (BT)& TV(

Get away from BT! You'd better off getting Virgin broadband and phone. There's a good Virgin home phone & broadband deal through here: http://www.broadbandchoices.co.uk/ Then get a cheap decent smart TV and let kids watch films and TV through the catch up and Netflix apps. Something like this: h...

Re: Controversial question regarding faith schools

Is the reason you're so interested in these particular schools because of their results? Because those schools very likely would not perform as well if they suddenly weren't Catholic and took a totally different demographic. I have an inkling some parents would like the school and ethos to stay exac...

Re: Worries about creepy sleepover family

Seven still seems very young - I say go with your gut instinct if you don't trust the family.

You could always let her stay till 10.30pm and pick up her up. Or say that you've already arranged another sleepover for her on that date, then hastily arrange one!

Re: HELP - Sooooo we know that this is the best place to liv

What about somewhere like this in Muswell Hill? Great school catchments. Sorry, any excuse to get on Rightmove! http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-47071787.html?backListLink=%2Fproperty-for-sale%2Fmap.html%3FlocationIdentifier%3DREGION%255E85376%26insId%3D1%23_includeSSTC%3Don%26a...

Re: HELP - Sooooo we know that this is the best place to liv

Have you considered Furzedown, between Tooting and Streatham? Near Tooting common, very friendly and lots available in that budget. You could buy in catchment of Graveney school (though would need to be within a few hundred meters I think). Another option could be somewhere like Brockley, near Fores...

Re: Postnatal midwife care

Another vote for Neighbourhood Midwives. The care we had from St Georges homebirth team was fab for the actual birth - we just used NM for postnatal care, because I was so nervous about not having a clue what to do! Annie and Tina are so lovely and encourage you to contact them day or night with any...

Re: HELP - Sooooo we know that this is the best place to liv

Off the top of my head, perhaps somewhere like Twickenham or north, Southgate or St Albans? What is your budget and what do you want for it, as that really narrows the options?

Re: Bumping head on the crib - what do you do?

Our nine-monther sleeps in one of these. We got it to help her transition from bedside crib to cot, and she sleeps like a dream in it. But it could help with the head bumping too?
