Re: Primary school dilemma

In my son's year 25% of the pupils have at least one parent who originates from Continental Europe (ie non UK). Another 10% have parents from non European backgrounds. This is not an untypical year . Last year 2 pupils left to go to the Lycee . The school is Eaton House the Manor but then of course ...

Re: Broomwood or Eaton House

Traditionally boys were sent to senior boarding schools at 13, girls were kept at home and sent to London Day schools at 11. Over the years this has changed to some degree but the most well known boarding schools such as Harrow, Eton, Marlborough etc still start at 13 even if they are now mixed as i...

Re: Broomwood or Eaton House

Early days re the girls yet but I think both this year are off to girls only boarding schools. You are right that the mixed boarding schools typically start at 13 and as such the girls would need to go to say Broomwood for the last 2 years. I know of one girl from Parkgate School who did just this s...

Re: Broomwood or Eaton House

I have a son at Eaton House and know lots of parents of boys and girls at Northcote/Broomwood. Obviously main differences are Broomwood co-ed until 8 when boys go on to Northcote Lodge, girls stay until 13. At Eaton House girls and boys on same site but in different schools with boys leaving at 13, ...

Re: Thomas / Eaton Manor house / Emanuel School

Eaton House boys prepares boys for 13 plus not 11plus . Eaton House girls goes up to 11. Many if not all boys leave Finton at 7/8 mainly for Dulwich preps and Northcote Lodge whereas the girls stay on and take the 11 plus. Oliver House and Parkgate will prepare for 11 plus as does Hornsby. Broomwood...

Re: 6 months, not registered at private primary, is it too l

Some private prep schools operate a first come first served basis , others operate an entrance test at about 3plus. Registration costs about £50 per school . In the Abbeville area many boys attend Eaton House the Manor which sits on the Northside of Clapham Common and at reception operates a first c...

Re: catchment area around Theatre Street SW11 for state prim

You can not put names down for state schools - your best bet for information is the Wandsworth Council website under education and choosing a primary school. This will give you an idea of which schools are in your area, how far the catchment area was last year and the procedure to be followed in a f...

Re: Wandsworth Prep schools - suggestions please

The list of possibilities will depend upon whereabouts you live - no parent wants to drive miles for the school run, i find the Wandsworth one way system is often a natural barrier. Also depending upon the age of your daughter you may be too late for some schools where they allocate on a waiting lis...

Re: Gorgeous tree is gone

I think the original poster should apologise to the school , a case of not checking ones facts before publically slandering a school which understandably is concerned with the safety of its pupils.

Re: Online petition to open another bilingual stream at Wix

I wish you well but the school is not exactly flush with space - there are already 2 schools operating on one site at Wix so I am not sure where it is going to go ; the current bilingual class is part financed by the French Government as per the agreement in 2005 so I think finances may be a problem...

Re: Are rats a problem around Northcote road area?

There is an underground river under Northcote road, you can just about hear it at the eastern end near the libarary, I suspect the recent rain has resulted in rising water levels and thus rat displacement. We did have mice and found very little worked until we got a cat. Don't leave any food out for...

Re: Any children starting Eaton Manor nursery in Jan 2013?

Don't worry , my son started the nursery many moons ago at the tender age of 2 and 4 months for 2 mornings a week, he 's now in the prep school. I suspect the reason your son is due to starts in January is something to do with how popular the school in general has become and that the starting age ha...

Re: Wix School - any advice?

The bilingual class at Wix was set up in 2005 as an agreement between the French Government and Wandsworth Council. At the time it is probably fair to say Wix was not as popular as Honeywell or indeed Belleville and there was spare classroom capacity. The Ecole de Wix, operates on the same site and ...
