Re: camping advice - worth getting mini fridge?

I'd say so yes. We've been camping for a few years now and although we started out with just a cool box and ice packs regularly re-frozen from the main campsite freezer, we now allow ourselves the luxury of going on the electric line and just keeping everything in a mini fridge. Don't buy a cheap on...

Re: Is a new iphone too much for a 10 year old for Xmas?

Goodness, they are sooo expensive.
We got our oldest a Nokia 3310!! So she can call or text when out and about or heading to and from school.

I can highly recommend the Netflix documentary - The Social Dilemma, if you're not sure though.

Re: Schools

I have had 3 kids go through Belleville School and we absolutely love it. All 3 have very differing personalities and have thrived. The oldest has now moved on to the Bolingbroke Academy (that she loves). There is so much fuss around here about private vs state. I guess if you have 15-20k (per kid) ...

Re: First pregnancy, completely overwhelmed

Hi Alltheletters, I am sorry to hear that you are having a tough time. It is so difficult when a previous family trauma is handed down to younger family members. These remain with us and become our own blueprints and for pregnancy and birth this can be very unsettling indeed. Obviously you are not y...

Trick or Treating??

It's only just occurred to me that the kids are going to want to go out Trick or Treating for Halloween and it is creeping up fast.

Are we all doing that this year?
What are peoples' views on the wonderful craziness of trick or treating in the current Covid climate?

Any ideas?

Re: TfL changes to A24 Balham High Road

Denwand - We are on Burntwood Lane directly opposite the roundabout and entrance to Beechcroft Road and the first we knew about it was the sign going up. These changes seem to be made with absolutely no consultation or care for residents. My friend on Beechcroft Road had no idea either. This alongsi...

Re: TfL changes to A24 Balham High Road

I found a link! https://www.wandsworth.gov.uk/news/august-2020/three-new-low-traffic-neighbourhood-pilot-schemes-for-tooting/ It's been chaos outside of our house all afternoon. The sign in the road keeps getting knocked over by 4x4's (maybe it is too low for them?), then it gets run over by a few o...

Re: A-LEVEL ROUND UP: Congratulations to our schools on A level results

I am so sorry to hear of the devastating affect that the 'algorithm' has had on our wonderful state schools though. How awful. To put something in place that lifts the results of the private/fee paying schools and then lowers the grades of those who have worked their socks off in states schools, jus...

Re: TfL changes to A24 Balham High Road

Does anyone know where you can see a map of all the changes taking place in Wandsworth? A road closure/access only sign has gone up on Beechcroft Road (I live opposite) but it is the first we have heard anything about it. I'm guessing, yet again, that Burntwood Lane is just meant to take the brunt o...

Re: Users and residents of Burntwood Lane - Much needed changes to speed restrictions and road layout.

Agreed @juliantenniscoach the cycle lane is a mess too. Bad for the cyclists but also for the pedestrians as it runs across areas where pedestrians attempt to cross the road. It is so important that this road gets some serious TLC. Please do sign the petition and spread the word. So many people use ...
