Re: Glue Ear?

I had exactly this situation with my son at age 3-4 - he is now 16! Be careful going quickly for grommets - I knew a number of friends whose children with grommets had repeated ear infections and lots of time off school (grommets hold the ear canal open meaning that as well as sound being able to pe...

Re: These are Wandsworth's best primary schools for Key Stage 2 results in 2017

Well said Pud1 Lists like this of numbers of children achieving a certain level tell us more about the intake of a school than they do about quality of teaching and learning. Many excellent Wandsworth schools will never make it anywhere near this list because their pupils arrive with little or no En...

Re: Survey on mums managing work after children!!

Done! Just a small point - q7 is quite hard to answer consistently as it's not clear how the scale 1-5 is defined - is 1 = disagree and 5 = agree? Your results may be affected by respondents interpreting the scale in different ways

Re: Primary school entry, Sept 2017

Hi! There is another thread on exactly the issues you raise if you haven't found it already. Wix is becoming part of Belleville (as a result of its Ofsted report) - changes will happen quickly (and are already tangible in just a few months) so I'd recommend you also go and have a look at Belleville ...

Re: Kids Swim in SW11

I can highly recommend Dolphin Swim School and their sister club the Wimbledon Dolphins Swimming Club (WDSC) - lessons are at Wimbledon College (very easy to get to from SW11) - (or little ones in a special warm pool down in Colliers Wood). Both my kids have gone all the way through from 3 months to...

Re: Wix to become part of Belleville

Wix turned to Belleville in the summer term for some support to the Governors and Senior Leadership Team - hence why John Grove was there part time from September. Prior to this Belleville had started discussions with a number of schools in Wandsworth about forming a Multi-Academy Trust - these are ...

Re: Careers advice for young girl

Wow - I'm finding some of the characterising of local SAHMs in this thread really shocking. I do not know a single one who has reached where she is today through the strategy proposed by this young girl. All bar one had a successful, rewarding career for many years before taking the (often difficult...

Re: Wix to become part of Belleville

And I absolutely stand by my personal feeling of being excited about the prospect for the first time in years for Wix to become an outstanding school. I am always excited by improving standards that mean all pupils in the school can have a first class education. How is that inappropriate?

Re: Wix to become part of Belleville

New Keeping Children Safe in Education requirement s came into effect in Sept 2016 and appear to have been the focus for a number of Ofsted inspections in the last couple of months. If a school does not have compelling answers and evidence on how it is protecting children against radicalisation, FGM...

Re: Careers advice for young girl

So - for me this boils down to CHOICE and opportunities. I want my daughter to have the self esteem to believe she is worth investing in, to have an education that enables her to be the best she can be and achieve all she wants to so that she never feels she has to "settle". I want her yo ...

Re: Primary schools in Clapham

Wix is to become part of Belleville as Belleville has been selected to manage its improvement after Ofsted. Teachers and senior leaders have already begun to work closely with staff at Wix. So, by the time your child starts reception I would say by taking a place at Wix you will effectively be gaini...
