Re: best non aggressive way to confront a shouty neighbour

I fully agree with muddyboots and screamingmum. OP, it is not clear if you are worried about your ears, about the kids' welfare, or both. You say the father screams but you really need to elaborate, otherwise it's impossible to understand what happens. How often does he scream? Only at the children ...

Re: Blurred relationship differences in 10 year old daughter

Have you tried discussing it with the child's GP? GPs can refer children and families for counselling etc.

Would looking into private counselling be an option?

Re: Laminate flooring - supplier recommendations please!

The one thing I'd say is that it is really hard to picture what a whole room will look like just by looking at a sample. We spent more on the kitchen titles and saved on the laminate for the rest of the ground floor, but we ended up liking the laminate much more!

Re: Recommend retractable awnings / sun canopies for the garden?

Thanks! What's your experience with them? Did you order blinds? Awnings?

Re: HERMES I am fed up!!!

I sympathise with what @stevehall said. Also, drivers are at the bottom of the corporate food chain - some even use their own cars. I remember storied in the press about one of these companies (not Hermes) not giving time off to a driver to attend critical medical treatment. So direct your anger at ...

Re: Laminate flooring - supplier recommendations please!

Karndean laminate flooring from Trade Carpet Wimbledon, near the Lidl and the new stadium. Went with a light grey pattern that mimics stone and we love it. We wanted to go with Amtico (many friends have that) but it was just too expensive. I double checked my invoice - it was this one: https://www.k...

Recommend retractable awnings / sun canopies for the garden?

Can anyone recommend an installer for retractable awnings / sun canopies? We want to install something like this: https://www.rocheawnings.com/patio-awnings/?utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=awnings&utm_source=&utm_term=retractable%20garden%20canopy&gclid=Cj0KCQjw38-DBhDpARIsADJ3kjn8gIier...

Re: Tenancy early termination fee. Please help !

First of all: never trust a single word estate agents tell you! When does your contract end? What is the notice period? Is there a break clause? Break clause means that you cannot terminate the tenancy before a certain period. Eg you could have a 1-year contract with a 6-month break clause and a 2-m...

Re: Aircon installation

OP, you will need to apply for planning permission. Are you familiar with how it works? You need it even for non-listed building outside of conservation areas. The rules in England are that any "plant", like the external unit of an aircon system, must produce a noise 10dB lower than the a...

Re: Help incredibly noisy kids behind me and to the side of me

OP, how old is the new neighbours' son, and what do you mean he has the spotlight on at 10pm? Did you mean the stereo? How old are the kids on the other side? To be honest, from your message it is quite hard to understand if you are a neighbour from hell, or if they are. Give some context: assuming ...

Re: Can I pay my nanny in cash

What is the point of this question? What do you want to be told, really? It is not to ask whether paying cash with no tax and no NI is legal - you are well aware it is not. Is it to ease your conscience? Would you feel less guilty if you were told that, I don't know, 75% of families pay their nannie...

Re: Food banks - how to make a cash donation

A friend who volunteers at one of the local foodbanks mentioned Bankuet - we have been using it for cash donations. I think cash donations are better than food donations because it means the food bank can better plan what to buy and when: less problems with storage, no risk of ending up with too muc...
