Re: Bugaboo Bee Plus?

Re: Bugaboo Bee Plus?

I don't know about the plus but you can't go wrong with the original--it is really the best buggy around. I am using mine for 26 months now and it has travelled all over and been given a tough time by my toddler. The only minus is it has 4 small wheels so can be a bit bumpy. Come to think of it the ...

Re: bilingual nursery in Wandsworth, go or no-go?

GO GO GO--Mandarin is the 'in' language right now-- I wish you had started it earlier as I've already started a second language for my son but nevertheless I'll keep my eyes open for what you do. You may want to start with some holiday camps or playgroups and then take off from there... all best, devi

Re: 18 month old developed fear of baths - help!

Is there anything specific she is scared of in the tub? My son (at around 20 months) was suddenly afraid of the water tap in the tub and refused to get into the tub. I had to cover it with stickers (his favourite ones) and when it looked different, he was fine with it again. Sometimes they notice so...

Can't thank you enough--I am especially interested in the Dutch authors because of the Dutch culture's emphasis on valuing children. ((:

Re: Famous non-English authors for children? Please recommend

Thanks Moops. I found this comprehensive list (English and in other languages but translated into English) of children's books online: http://www.statemaster.com/encyclopedia/List-of-children%27s-literature-authors" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; However, the list is a bit t...

Re: Weekend in NY with 1 year old

Hey I used to live in NYC and my son was born there (and I took him back there for 2 months last summer) so I do have some sense of this--what kind of place are you looking for? You can use craigslist.com for short-term sublets. In general, it depends on several things, 1) in what neighborhood you w...

Famous non-English authors for children? Please recommend

Hi--I just discovered Astrid Lindgren--the famous Swedish author of the Pippi series. I love her books which are widely translated into English, and would love for my child to read these some day. I wonder if others who are bilingual can suggest some names of well loved children's authors in their r...

Re: someone to read/talk in French to my child

Although I am no expert ,whatever I have read on-line about languages and speech indicates that children learn to separate out different languages depending on context and who is speaking to them. so it should not be confusing. the more 'live' interactions they have--no matter in what language, the ...

Re: someone to read/talk in French to my child

I completely agree with Anna. We took our son to his first class when he was a year old and he started enjoying these so much that we took him to two classes per week last term (one in Chelsea and one in South Ken)...We attended in Northcote Library as well a few times. In Chelsea they have classes ...

Re: someone to read/talk in French to my child

Hi--many thanks to the Adminstrator for passing this along in the weekly list. I am now following up on the responses-thanks to those who replied. Moops--not sure you are close enough to my location. Also, my place is a 1BR--will be a bit cramped I think. You may want to call the people who replied ...

Re: someone to read/talk in French to my child

will be glad to do that Moops--but so far no one has responded. I am hoping some French speaking Mums may be interested--I could entertain their kids with English (reading, songs etc) and pay for their time as well. Or maybe a student with some free time may volunteer....some groups do give private ...

someone to read/talk in French to my child

Hi--I am looking for someone to read French books to my son (now 2) and talk in French with/to him. He attends a French nursery twice a week and goes to a French playgroup also twice a week but my husband and I are not French. He seems very interested in French and speaks a bit so we would be happy ...
