Re: New kitchen

If you don't have mega cash to splash then Howdens are great! I've done x3 magnet kitchens in the not so distant past and can say tat my recent experience with Howdens (& the quality of the units) is WAY better!

Re: New stamp duty rules

I do think this works better than a mansion tax as I cannot see a workable system for valuation in that scenario....the majority of houses in a particular street may be worth 2mil but if one has wet rot, dry rot, subsidence, needs a new roof, full re plumb & wire etc how are they going to take t...

Re: Fitting 3 car seats on back seat

SMAX!!!! Fits 3 child/baby seats across the back row perfectly, has an extra 2 to pop up in the boot if you need them (as they get older v useful) which actually still leaves a hatchback amount of space. And if it's just you, your partner & your 3 across the back the boot space is enormous (much...

Re: Losing Sept School Deposit Rant

Hmmm, haven't noticed anyone ranting & personally certainly not at UK law, that is what's protecting Joe Public here... Only point being made is that this is an area covered by UK law in aforementioned posts. Feel free to check out The Guardian and other UK press coverage of the experiment previ...

Re: Losing Sept School Deposit Rant

T&Cs, whatever company/school they are from, have to comply with the law. The hassle is that someone (ideally commercial/contracts lawyer who will be able to DIY it to 'test the case'!) will have to be the first. Just because the document states something or other it doesn't mean it's contractua...

Re: new baby and dryer broke - Argh!

If it is the bearings (which would explain grinding/rattling) then the spin doc is worth a try but if you don't want to take the risk & have funds for another then order from boots online - they don't overprice and will literally deliver next day (saved me on both occasions of having to replace ...

Re: Parents to be consulted over plans to change sibling rul

Of all the many, many suggestions that have been made on this site on this heated subject in the last few years I think Gruffalo's Dad may have just proposed the first potentially workable solution to the issue!! However, it may also be worth pointing out that some schools in the borough, for exampl...

Re: Breastfeeding advice plz?

All great suggestions above but if that fails I tried these with my 3rd baby and they genuinely made a huge difference (though I must admit I still find the concept weird). The lady who runs it is local and actually posted mine through the letterbox the afternoon I placed the order (a Sunday) so if ...

Re: Losing Sept School Deposit Rant

Just to respond to Sw17mamma's point a post but one ago: I think we all agree that if they can't fill the space then you forfeit the deposit. The point here is that the nursery in question (like I would expect the majority in nappy valley) probably WILL fill the space in which case if the deposit is...

Re: Babies bedtime - my son doesn't like bedtime!

We had a similar issue - my daughter started somersaulting out her cot at about this age and then would not stay in her bed. We tried for several weeks to get her to stay in her big girl bed but it proved near on impossible and being heavily pregnant at the time I seriously struggled with the exhaus...
