Re: Renovate with double glazing

We replaced all of the windows in our Edwardian house with double glazing. We used the Sash Window Specialists, who made wooden double glazed windows to exactly match the originals, and we are very pleased with the result. We used to have the draughtiest house ever, but now we are all toasty. The co...

Re: Antenatal Classes in SW11

To be honest, I didn't find the content of my NCT antenatal class particularly enlightening - possibly because I had read so many books. The reason I found the class useful was firstly because I was confident that my husband knew what was going on and secondly for the contacts. It is invaluable to h...

Re: Help with sleep training

We worked with Carol Mae www.carolmaeconsulting.co.uk and our little girl is a great sleeper now. That was 9 months ago and Carol still checks in with us regularly to make sure everything is going ok. It is the best money we ever spent! Two of the other Mums in our NCT group worked with her too, and...

Re: dealing with another parent whose child is autistic

Until I read the father's reply, confirming that the incident actually took place (and with a very different angle on events) I was convinced the original poster was a troll. Separating children on the basis of disabilities, colour, sex etc is just bizarre. We all have to get along together in this ...

Red Pocket - battersea

There's a horrendous review in the Times today by Giles Coren (who I love). Has anyone been there? Is it really as bad as he says?

Re: Sleep expert needed for toddler - any recommendations?

We used Carol Mae, she also worked with two other mums from our NCT class and did a great job. It's now nearly 8 mths since she helped us and she still gets in touch regularly to see how weare getting on. Our daughter sleeps so well, it's like magic.

Re: Permit for a removal van

When we were moving house I called the council to ask the same question and was told that as long as they were constantly loading or unloading that I didn't need a suspension, or even to pay at the machine. If you want to be guaranteed a spot outside your house you could consider a suspension - we j...

Re: Private early pregnancy scan

St George's in Tooting have an early pregnancy unit. They don't charge and you don't need a referral.

We also went to the place by Clapham Junction at 32 weeks for an extra peek at baby, they were very nice. I think it cost £60.

Re: thank you meal for fantastic friends

Locally, Trinity is excellent.

What kind of food do they like? Corrigan's is very good, as is Galvin at Windows, which has great views. Scott's is good for celeb spotting.

Eye creams

I am so depressed, I looked in the mirror yesterday and realised that the wrinkles around my eyes have become a total disaster zone. One of them goes all the way across to my hairline! I am only 36 but the skin around my eyes could belong to a 70 year old. Are there any creams / treatments that actu...

Re: poker of catchment areas: Honeywell v Bellev v alderbroo

If you've just moved over from Dublin you could get your parish priest from home (or your parents' parish priest if you don't know your own one very well) to write a letter saying your daughter is baptised, he knows your family well, you practice, etc etc. You won't have the time / track record to g...

Re: Where to buy our first house help?

All good qs above. Do think about how long you want to stay in your new home and if a 2 bed in a more expensive area makes less sense than a three bed in a cheaper area. Stamp duty is very expensive and if you have to move again in 3/4 years you might as well burn the money.
