Key Filing Statistics
According to HMRC, many taxpayers are getting an early start:
- Over 24,800 people filed their tax returns on New Year’s Day.
- An additional 38,000 taxpayers completed theirs on 31 December.
- Interestingly, 310 people submitted their returns between 11pm and midnight on New Year’s Eve.
Missing the 31 January deadline can result in an initial £100 late filing penalty. To avoid this, ensure you complete and submit your tax return on time.
