The informations sheet it says it takes 6 weeks - has anyone applied for one recently?
Wondering if it took this long or given the current covid climate did it take longer?

Five and a half weeks. Received mid October 2021.
Overall first or second passports ( take less than or about 6 weeks.

I’m waiting for mine presently. I sent my papers in two weeks ago. Will let you know when I get it if you’d like. I heard it could be anything between six and eight weeks.

I got mine earlier in the year and it was super quick (I can’t remember precisely but I’d say less than two weeks.) I think it really depends on what time of year you apply. If you’re just renewing and apply online I imagine it’s quicker.

Oh sorry I just realised you said first passport! Having said that my cleaner got her first British passport this year too and that was also pretty quick.

The guidelines say up to 10 weeks but my daughters took 5 weeks and when I called up to ask (as we were flying in 8 weeks) they said it was usually around 5 weeks for a first passport.

I submitted my application with fingers crossed, hoping for a speedy turnaround. However, as the weeks went by, I anxiously checked the mailbox every day, eagerly awaiting that coveted blue envelope.
Unfortunately, it ended up taking a bit longer than expected. I guess it's no surprise that processing times might be a bit delayed. In my case, it actually took around 8 weeks for my passport to finally arrive.
