The Elms Academy is celebrating today as the Department for Education publishes its new, validated progress scores. The results reveal that, with a score of 0.91, the school is top of tthe table in Lambeth and in the top 150 schools in the country for Progress 8.

Progress 8 is a national measure which calculates the average progress students make by GCSE, compared with other similar schools. A progress score that meets the national average is set at 0 each year, with anything higher reflecting value added to a student’s achievements during their time at school.

With an impressive score of 0.91, the school is well above the national average of -0.03 as well as the average in Lambeth, which is 0.

The Elms Academy’s A Level results also saw an increase in the number of students achieving top grades with over a third of grades at A* - A, and a 10% increase in A*-B grades. Students go on to achieve places at Oxford or Cambridge and other top universities every year.

Amy Welch, Principal at The Elms Academy, said:
“I am very pleased that The Elms Academy has topped the table for Progress 8 in Lambeth and come in the top 150 schools in the country for this measure. This result reflects the excellent education students receive here and how all students, regardless of background, can achieve their best.”
