Induction hobs or gas?

Postby InductionorGas » Thu Apr 03, 2025 11:59 am

Our cooker has died and we need to replace it. We're being pushed in the direction of induction by the salespeople but I always thought these were a bit hard to cook properly with.

The other option would be gas.

Has anyone made the switch from gas and how did you find it?

TIA

I ve switched to induction. The new jobs are brilliant. I have a Fisher and Paykel. Cooking is a bliss.

We made the move as part of a bigger picture when renovations were underway. We changed our heating system and are now an A rating house so it was important for me to cut the gas off and were all electrics. Where we are 46% of the electricity in the country has been from renewables energy so that was my drive.

But the bonus was the induction. I feel in much greater control of my cooking and i cook from scratch everyday. I also have a budding chef who experiments a lot and it s brilliant.

Choose well though. When they say 5 or 6 rings, make sure to ask how many pans can you have at once and still have full power on each rings.

I wanted the full black 6 rings miele but couldnt justify the nearly 4 grand. But now, i m fisher and paykel all the way. It s very sleek. I ve just installed it in one of my client house actually

Have fun!
