Purchasing next to Springfield Hospital Redevelopment Post Reply

Hi all,

Just a newbie in NVN, we are planning a move to a 2 bed flat in Earslfied from a 1 bed in Fulham as we cannot afford to expand here.

We have seen some good flats in the Quadrangle (St. George's Grove) which were built by Bellway back in 2010 and overlook the CL Golf Course with nice tree green views.

We are quite excited about it but have by fluke come into the knowledge of the ongoing redevelopment planned for the Springfield Hospital which will see the golf course become a public park.

I saw that many locals were opposed to it mainly due to the traffic getting worse by more people being brought it to this area.

I'd love your opinions into whether there are other factors to consider with a redevelopment so close, will the golf course balcony view changing to a public park bring more value to the flats or quite the opposite?

Hi and welcome to NVN

We live on the other side of Springfield, very close to the entrance Tooting Bec entrance. We welcome the development and have done since it was first suggested years ago, as I feel that it's making better use of the huge amount of space. I still stand by this. The new homes going up at the Hebdon Road entrance look nice and aren't too cramped.

I think the only thing you need to consider is whether the golf course will be indeed be turned into public park. That is what they are saying now, but could things change? Maybe I'm being pessimistic but there is an element of risk there perhaps. Would Wandsworth Council know more? If the view changed in the future would it be a deal breaker for you?

Agree that there is risk - the park does feel like just the sort of place that could be developed further down the line.

But I do think Wandsworth are pretty good at this sort of thing so would be surprised if that were the case.

One detail but its worth mentioning - if you have children please do put your little one(s) down for Spencer hockey and cricket and Ironsides rugby now (if you're that way inclined) as it would be awful to live on the doorstep and be too late for those clubs and their waiting lists are vast

I have done some digging and actually found the approved design plans from the wandsworth council

It seems like the golf course will be replaced by parkland on phase 2 and houses which are phase 1 seem to be on sale now!

as twomonkeys says you never know but hopefully a planning application is a trustworthy enough final decision (for a while!)

Seb, Our little one is on the making process but thanks for an early tip off! I'm sure in a few years time, we'll be thanking you even more!

Is anyone familiar with the Quadrangle flats on St. Georges Grove, they look like young professional couples and perhaps some doctors, medical students, nurses?

It seems like a nice and relaxed area to be in, albeit a little bit disconnected and only the G1 route avialable nearby.

More thoughts welcome!!

Hi,we had a look at a few apartments in this development a few years ago.We liked the development,it seems very quite. I think the Quadrangle has mainly nurses and medical students residents. You can walk 10 min. down to Garratt lane to get different buses (44,77,270).

Hi all - sorry for the bump!

I was looking for people's thoughts on the Springfield Village development.

I'm looking at a flat in Grosvenor Way, just north of Streatham Cemetery, but it looks like there are 6+ such flats on the market right now, which makes me slightly hesitant.

Any ideas why people are selling? Lots of construction traffic for the next five years while the park/flats get built, that sort of thing?

From what I can see in the development plans, there will be an entry road to the new park in Grosvenor Way , but I'm not sure when this will happen.
