Maclaren Quest vs Techno XT

Postby coffeelovingmum » Fri Apr 26, 2013 12:53 pm

Hello! We are looking at buying a new buggy for our 7 month old as the one donated by my sister is on it's last legs with wonky wheels etc.

We have narrowed our search down to the Maclaren Quest or the Techno XT. Our key requirements above all the safety stuff are stability / folds up small

Does anyone have any recommendations for one above the other?

I have one of each (I bought the quest for a bargain price from Fara but that's another story!)...
I far prefer the quest for day to day activities as it's easier to push & really compact & light when you fold it up (good if you're trying to get on a bus & it's already got a pushchair or two on board). The sunshade feature on the techno xt is brill (that's if the sun ever shines) & it is prob more 'stable' with its bigger wheels and better brake but to be honest, if I had to choose between the two, I'd keep the quest!

I agree with super girl , if u are using as main buggy definitely go for the xt because it reclines fully and the sunshade feature is brilliant. Someone asked this exact question a few weeks ago so u might want to read that post:

I bought the XT two weeks ago and I love it. In fact, the amount of love I feel for it is slightly disturbing :). It's so light and easy to use, plus it goes flat so the LO can sleep comfortably while we are out and about. John Lewis had a deal on it for £210 plus free delivery to your house or a local store (inc Waitrose).

I got a Quest when my son was around 6 months and have used it almost daily since. It is very light, compact and easy to fold (can fold and unfold it one handed) a real workhorse.
It has survived numerous overseas trips. Easy to get on/off trains, tube and buses. It's so light I can lift it up with my son in it , if need be.
It gets bashed about a lot and covered in crumbs and banana and I just scrub it with some liquid detergent and comes out fine.

I bought this massive extra Maclearen sun shade attachment for our trip to Spain that worked a treat.
Because it is so light if you have a heavy bag hanging from the handle bars it does tip over when your child gets out (but not when child is in it or if you have something heavy in the bottom).

No experience of the XT which I heard is a bit bigger and heavier (wheels look bigger) and probably has more recline positions. THe Quest has 3 reclines but doesn't lie totally flat but think is fine for an older baby or toddler and naps.
Maybe try them out and see if you want something smaller and lighter or a more substantial push chair.

Thanks all. After a trip to John Lewis we opted for the Quest as it folds slightly smaller has much smaller wheels so takes up less space in the house.

Also bought JL generic foot muff for £19 instead of the am laden one for 60 quid!
