Legoland with toddlers

Postby peasepudding » Wed Jul 03, 2013 8:58 am

Is Legoland any good for toddlers? A close friend is taking her 6 and 8 year old for the day and has suggested we join her but I don't know how much fun it would be for my not quite 3 year old twins. I don't want to end up ruining everyone's day with whiny toddlers not having fun and holding back the enjoyment of the older kids!

Hi,

I went to legoland 2 weeks ago with my 3 yr old and 10 mth old.

There was lots for my toddler to do, there are a number of rides aimed at toddlers. There is a dino safari ride which is just very slow mini jeeps going around a track. The submarine sub aqua is amazing for toddlers too. You go underwater and there are real fishes, sting rays, little sharks as well as Lego mermaids etc. there is also a playground and a water playground. The Lego trains always amuse my little girl too.

If you do go then get a voucher or something in advance as otherwise it really is expensive. Out side if term time you can print a pre school voucher from the website which gives you entry for adult and one preschooler for £24.50 so a lot cheaper.

If you go have fun!

A really good alternative to legoland for another day is Beconskot village in Beaconsfield. Perfect size for toddlers.

I went with my 7-year-old and toddler and husband last fall. If you do go with your friend you should consider the age gap, the rides that are for all ages are pretty tame and since the queues are so long (at least on the weekend we went) you have to be careful which you choose since waiting can take up a good part of the day. The older kids might want to go on the rides for big kids in which case you might not end up spending a lot of time together. I went on the big kid rides with the older whilst my husband ran around with the baby, we all had fun but not all together.

Hi, I agree with LindaS's comments regarding queues. We went 2 Sundays ago and it was packed! There were suitable rides for my 2 and a half y.o., however we only went on two due to the very long wait times! There were literally hundreds of kids in the Duplo splash area, so we avoided that.

Hardly any of the electric trains in Miniland were running, so my son quickly lost interest in that area.

If you go on a weekend, be prepared to stand in queues all day. It took 40 minutes just to get into the park! The queue for pre-paid online tickets was longer than the normal ticket queue. I also queued for 20 minutes for an ice-cream while my husband was in queue for a ride.

On a slight tangent has anyone had problems with the wasps as I have heard they are still a problem?!

Thanks!
