Our MP, Rosena Allin-Khan voted against the Rape Gangs Enquiry …

Postby readysteadycook » Thu Jan 09, 2025 4:39 pm

Like many residents I was shocked at how our MP voted on Wednesday night.

Last night your Labour MP, Rosena Allin-Khan, had a chance to vote for a full national inquiry into the rape gangs scandal.

Our area is full of young children and we would all like to think they are well looked after and protected. So would Labour not be interested if it was happening here ? Thats the way our MP is thinking.

Labour could have stood with the thousands of victims and helped deliver justice. They could have helped us learn from institutional failings, so that local authorities never fail our women and girls like this again.

But instead Rosena Allin-Khan sided with Keir Starmer, who thinks calling for an inquiry is a
'far right bandwagon'.

it doesn’t make sense … or does it ? Help me out please …

I am happy to help you out.

There has already been an extensive national Independent Inquiry into Child Sex Abuse, and the expert who led this has called for its recommendations to be implemented so that safeguarding improvements can be put in place swiftly, rather than a further inquiry which would cause delay.

If you want to learn from institutional failings, read Professor Jay's findings and recommendations, rather than listening to the rhetoric of tech billionaires who couldn't care less about a pandemic of violence against women and children by men of all races and religions.

None of the parties calling for a new inquiry since Elon Musk got involved chose to implement these recommendations when they were in power, or to campaign for it at the recent election.  It is not genuinely close to their hearts.  And the attempt to smear Muslims and immigrants as rapists and trolling of Jess Phillips, a politician who has devoted her career to protecting victims of violence and sexual abuse, are both dangerous and disgraceful.

So did Marsha de Cordova - she also voted against. Absolutely despicable.

At least there are prominent labour people such as Andy Burnham who have the courage to oppose it and challenge Starmer.
