The Lord Mayor’s Hot Air Balloon Regatta® is the official ballooning event of The City of London and is the aerial extension of the historic Lord Mayor’s Show.
Each year up to fifty hot air balloons take flight across central London raising awareness and funds for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal. Leading the launch is the official Lord Mayor’s Appeal hot air balloon which carries both the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress.
The 2019 event launched from Battersea Park on Sunday 9th June and saw 46 hot air balloons fill London’s skyline at 5:30am. We are delighted to confirm that the flight raised £76,000 for The Lord Mayor’s Appeal, taking our overall total raised to an amazing £251,724 in just four years.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, The 2020 and 2021 Lord Mayor’s Hot Air Balloon Regatta® were stood down and due to weather conditions the 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions could not proceed.
The standby dates for The 2025 Lond Mayor's Hot Air Balloon Regatta® are Sunday 11th May, Sunday 20th July and Sunday 27th July.
