Located at Broomwood Road and Battersea High Street, the ethos of Thomas’s Day Schools is definitely not for everyone. Private, oversubscribed and selective, candidates are interviewed and tested from the age of three up, which seems a bit harsh. But it’s hardly surprising, perhaps, when you consider pupils go on to some of the most elite secondaries, including Westminster, JAGS, Eton, Marlborough College, etc. Pupils change classrooms and teachers for lessons, rather than staying in the same room, and the schools are big (500 plus) and busy, so if your child is withdrawn, this probably isn’t the environment for them. Still, the pupils all seem happy and confident, rather than hothouse flowers, and the results speak for themselves. Early application essential. Ages 4-13.
