One of the most popular girls’ state schools in the SW area, and very oversubscribed – roughly 500-800 applications for the 90 places on offer. Located in three beautiful Georgian houses on quiet Parson’s Green, it’s very much a Church school, with 50 places reserved for regular CofE goers (you often find a flurry of families attending St Mary Magdalene etc in the run-up to application, but you have to prove you’ve been going at least fortnightly for three years). Then it’s catchment area, banding and siblings. Strong on the arts and SEN, and parents praise the nurturing atmosphere. 11-18.
