Large, friendly independent boys’ school with excellent facilities, particularly playing fields. Reasonable fees, generous scholarship and bursary programme – which makes it popular with the cash-strapped parents of bright children who want their sons to benefit from a private education. The only disadvantage, perhaps, is the location in Shirley Park, Croydon. Strong emphasis on sport and music – the celebrated choir performs all over the world. Entrance is by exam (Verbal Reasoning, English and Maths) and interview. 890 pupils. Ages 11-18.
