Importance of the Early Years

Ofsted’s recent article on the importance of the Early Years (2023) highlights that finding the right setting for your child is critical. The Roche School in Wandsworth is therefore proud to be promoting its exceptional Nursery and Reception classes in this short video. The Roche School is an independent, family owned, co-educational, nursery and primary school offering children (ages 2 to 11) a wide range of academic, creative and sporting opportunities in a family-orientated environment.

The Early Years department is led by a team of experienced, dedicated and highly qualified teachers. The end of year results highlight the pupils’ higher than average progress and the staff have the expertise to sustain each child’s interests with a rich variety of topics and activities.

Wonder and excitement is established early on in the Nursery and Reception classes, allowing creativity to soar. Tasks are met head on, creating individual ways of solving problems. Friendships and trust are built quickly and children are provided with freedom to explore, whilst being guided where necessary. In Nursery and Reception, children are offered child-led, hands-on learning in a carefully prepared environment which is tailored to children’s enthusiasms and interests. The classrooms in the EYFS are beautifully organised and set up so that the children are enticed into exploring the activities on offer.
