Susan Brooks, Head LPS Clapham
Susan Brooks is an accomplished educator whose journey spans from Australia to the United Kingdom. She earned her dual degrees in Secondary Education and Arts with specializations in History and French from Queensland University in 2003. Susan commenced her teaching career in Australia, teaching up to A Level and at Benowa State High and holding the position of Head of French at Wynnum North State High.
In 2007, Susan ventured to the UK to continue her career in secondary education. She joined Bromford’s School in Wickford, Essex. Subsequently, she transitioned to Broomwood Hall, where she quickly rose through the ranks, eventually serving as Senior Mistress and Director
of Studies. In 2014, she took on the role of Deputy Head (Academic) at Broomwood Hall. Susan’s passion for educational innovation led to her appointment as the founding Head of Northwood Senior in 2019. Her mission was to establish a modern and progressive secondary school within the Northwood Schools group, designed to provide a personalized approach to education for students aged 11-16. The journey continued in 2021 when Northwood Schools and Northwood Senior became part of the Dukes Education family. It was during this time that Susan played a pivotal role as a core member of the founding team. The vision was to create a new secondary school in Clapham, becoming the first within a new model of senior schools under the leadership of Suzie Longstaff, former Head of Putney High. In September 2023, Susan was officially confirmed as the Head of London Park School Clapham.
In her role, Susan embraces the opportunity to implement a forward-thinking and contemporary curriculum that combines the strengths of traditional education with innovative approaches. She is committed to reimagining how education is delivered to create a more positive learning experience for all students.
Outside of her educational pursuits, Susan enjoys a rich personal life. She is married to Dave, a psychotherapist specialising in young people. Her interests span the globe, with travel experiences in 27 countries. She finds solace in reading, adventure through paddle-boarding and skiing, and cherishes her time walking her canine companion, Elvis.
ABOUT LONDON PARK SCHOOLS
Smaller Schools for Bigger Thinking
London Park Schools represent a fresh approach to secondary education. Each institution offers students the experience and opportunities of a large institution while preserving a small-school environment that fosters a strong sense of community and ensures every student is known and heard. This agility of approach combined with a focus on the skills needed for the future enables ‘bigger’ thinking beyond the constraints and restrictions of timetabling often found in larger schools.
An Innovative Curriculum
Our innovative curriculum focuses on experiential education, problem-solving skills, and design thinking. We believe in reinforcing learning through doing and prepare students for the evolving workplaces of tomorrow.
Leadership Rooted in Excellence
At the helm of London Park Schools Mayfair and Sixth is Dr. Adrian Rainbow who, together with Group Principal Suzie Longstaff, brings a wealth of experience from the world of high performing secondary schools and elite sports. Together, they are committed to coaching excellence, teamwork, and the design of an innovative curriculum, reflecting our dedication to championing a dynamic, modern approach.
Community, Inclusion, and Global Citizenship
London Park Schools celebrate diversity, fostering a strong sense of community and promoting an inclusive environment where open-mindedness and respect for different perspectives are encouraged. We prepare students for life as responsible global citizens.
Practical Life Skills and Leadership
We work with the Dukes Leadership programme to prepare our students for the future and a transition to independence, imparting practical life skills, financial literacy, and effective communication. It’s not just about academics; it’s about holistic personal growth.
Cutting-Edge Curriculum and Opportunities
Our curriculum is contemporary, relevant, and challenging, preparing students for a rapidly changing world of work. We offer a wide array of opportunities, from internships and work placements to unique projects and competitions and draw upon the wider opportunities afforded by Dukes Education in enabling our students to prepare for that future – whether that’s Oxbridge Applications, the A list or Investin.
A Breath of Fresh Air in Education
LPS challenges outdated educational norms. We provide a new and better way to inspire and engage young people. Our schools champion creativity, critical thinking, and personalised learning within warm and supportive communities.
