Earlsfield local favourite the Jolly Gardener’s has unveiled its new spring wine list. The selection which has been compiled in conjunction with local wine merchant James Price of Pro Wine Services, offers drinkers some new and exciting opportunities for their taste buds.
White wine drinkers will be able to experience wines made from less commercial grapes such as a Spanish Macabeo, Vermentino and Alberino as well as established crowd pleasers such as Picpoul de Pinet and Viognier. Rose drinkers can try the delightful French Grenache, which the writer can attest is very moreish.
Red drinkers are well served by an excellent selection from Italy, Spain, Portugal, and France. A particular favourite being the Sicilian Nero d’Avola, though a friend of mine swears by the Portuguese ‘Esteva’ Douro Tinto. With prices ranging from £20-£30 for still wines, the list is exciting varied and affordable.
If this is not enough to convince you to grab your jacket and spring down Garrett Lane, well you can also take advantage of the half price lunch burgers Wednesday to Friday and double spirits for a single price every Thursday evening. Me I need no such convincing, just the upcoming warmer May weather and a chilled bottle of white in the well-appointed garden will be enough for me. See you there.
