Pupils at Dulwich College look forward to an exciting Michaelmas term

It’s been an exciting start to the Michaelmas term for pupils at Dulwich College, not just with the opening of the new Lower School building and its fabulous Library, but also with the many co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for pupils across the College to get involved in.

To kickstart the term, the Union Fair attracted pupils with more than 50 societies represented to entice and engage in. The event attracted enthusiastic participation from both pupils and teachers, eager to explore the diverse range of opportunities on offer. Sitting alongside popular and long-established Societies such as Economics, History, MFL and Law, to name but a few, there was excitement to welcome new ventures such as AI, Ancient Theatre, Roller coaster and Ultimate Frisbee societies.

In October, the College will mark Black History Month with a wide range of activities which will take place in the classroom and in clubs and societies, and will welcome visiting speakers Jeffrey Boakye, Floyd Steadman and Isaac Borquaye, also known as MOBO award-winning Guvna B. Choristers will be performing Evensong in the wonderful setting of St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, and concerts closer to home include the Lower School Open Concert, Lunchtime Concert series (Christ’s Chapel) and a Music Award Holders’ Concert. As always, Sports feature on the calendar with Rugby festivals, Cross Country tournaments and football matches with friendly rivals Cumnor House and Eaton House The Manor Preparatory School, to name a few.

The half term break brings with it lots of exciting trips and expeditions including Spanish, German and French trips for linguists, New York for pupils studying A-Level English Literature, a Computer Science Trip to San Francisco and Prague for pupils in Years 11-13 studying Design and Technology. Further afield there’s a trip to Beijing and Shanghai, as well as practise and training camps in England for pupils taking on the challenge of Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

Leading up to December there is Earthwise, a week for pupils to focus on all things to do with sustainability. Then the ever-popular Christmas Fair (Sunday 24 November) which is organised by the Friends of Dulwich College, as well as the Winter Concert and Carols by Candlelight in the beautiful setting of Southwark Cathedral.
