Sometimes I wonder if I my writing has the reverse Midas touch. Mandarin street, The French Kitchen & Pizza Storm were all new establishments that I’ve given the thumbs up to and are now no longer with us.

Admittedly these were all new ventures, and launching a new restaurant is one of the biggest challenges in business. It was with great sadness though I learnt of the scheduled closing of one of the areas most established dining spots, Nancy Lams Enak Enak.

Nancy’s is a one off, a larger than life hostess, great and reasonably priced food and a wine list of quality and value that is exceptional for south west London. I dined there recently and can attest the validity of all the above.

It is a shame that we are losing such a well known and idiosyncratic venue. It is a double shame it is happening on that particular stretch of Lavendar Hill, where so many premises already lie empty.

The good news is though is that as far as I’m aware the final satay stick won’t be served until the end of the year and so you have about 7 months to get yourself down there. For those still not convinced, check out my review from last year, https://nappyvalleynet.com/nancy-lams-enak-enak-noodles-nostalgia/. So do your taste buds and wallet a favour and get along to Lavender Hill.
