Re: Lack of state school places

The point is that the difficulty to get into popular State Secondaries or Primaries has nothing to do with a potential increase in some private fees next January.   If the journalist is serious and cared about education maybe an investigation into real terms reduction in funding of all state schools...

Re: Lack of state school places

Stirring of the greatest order. The VAT change does not happen till January and no evidence (yet) that people are leaving any of the in demand Private Secondaries. A non story with no evidence. There is a process for applying to state schools which was last autumn - primary and secondary.   Do your ...

Re: Please help solve a lunchtime discussion about changes to school fees

It’s simple - it was in the Labour manifesto- we had a democratic election and they won (easily). They now implement their manifesto. So the Uk voted for this. In 5 years time there will be another election- you can then try and change things. I doubt however any political party would stand on remov...

Re: URGENT ACTION REQUIRED : The ridiculous Labour 'Private School VAT' scam ...

Why is no-one who uses private education advocating that you all gang together and lobby your schools to either not pass on the increase to parents, slightly reduce the service to absorb costs and again not pass on the increase ? If you actually look at the research  (not Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph...

Re: VAT a big fee mistake!

Not angry at all with the policy - total support from me. :D :D

Disappointed with the response of those trying to encourage poor behaviour - awful examples to all our young people.

Re: VAT a big fee mistake!

45 million people registered to vote in the uk. Less than 1 million people have children in private education - the majority of these are Tory voters. Do not think your vote withdrawal from Labour will have an impact. I do hope our Labour Candidates/ Councillors have read the VAT threads here, inclu...

Re: URGENT ACTION REQUIRED : The ridiculous Labour 'Private School VAT' scam ...

One group of private school parents advocating causing problems with state school admissions. Another group expect to walk straight into the secondary schools of their choice. Perhaps some of these parents will be hindered because lots of entitled parents are telling state schools they need places w...

Re: URGENT ACTION REQUIRED : The ridiculous Labour 'Private School VAT' scam ...

Disgraceful suggestion - what a waste of everyone’s time. If you think a Private Education gives your child an advantage - “a leg up” so to speak, then by definition you think you are getting “added value” over and above what is available for free. Services that offer “added value” are generally sub...

Re: New 20mph zone on the A205?

What hatred to motorists are you talking about? You’ve both lost me. I drive and all adults I know drive and no one hates anyone because they drive when they need to, so please explain what you mean. My guess, and that is all it is, is that you’ve made that up in order to create an argument as you a...

Re: New 20mph zone on the A205?

Muddyboots - absolute nonsense and the opposite of what all studies say about 20mph versus 30 mph driving on pollution.  You obviously don’t care about facts or science.  I’ll point you at London Gov uk, TFL and University College of London studies but I doubt you’ll accept their findings - experts ...

Re: New 20mph zone on the A205?

Yeah it’s really important that drivers can go quicker there so they can get to the back of the traffic jam ahead of them as quick as possible…….. It is adjacent to the common where people enjoy their leisure time, exercise, walk their dogs, teach their kids to ride bikes, and guess what children, d...

Re: Who else feels outraged about what councils have done to Wandsworth Bridge Rd and Streatham  High Rd

It’s interesting that the poster is complaining that instead of going to local supermarkets in Balham her husband preferred to drive to Chelsea……..her family is part of the problem.  When local shops close in Balham because people like you drive elsewhere you’ll probably blame a new zebra crossing i...
