Re: Newton Prep place… where should we live?

My kids were at NP pre Covid but people would travel a long way for it. If you’re not keen on Battersea/Clapham and that typical south west London area then Lambeth is a great choice as it’s a very different vibe, really close to central London but easy bus routes to NP. Loads of families lived in t...

Re: I want to have an elective caesarean for my current birth.

Totally agree. Go through the process to keep them happy and then say at the end ‘after lots of consideration I’ve decided I would prefer a c section’. But just don’t bother arguing with them from the start, it will get their backs up. That’s what I did at C&W with my second and it worked but th...

Re: Daughter left out of playdates despite us being very hospitable

Hi grapefruit gin I am in exactly the same situation as you - my daughter also has just finished yr 5 and is always the one doing the inviting and I’m always helping friends out but invitations from her friends have totally dried up. My heart breaks for her as she, like your daughter, is so hospitab...

Re: How to prove vaccination status for a 12 year old?!

We’re in exactly the same predicament. We are booked to go to finally see family in Oz next Easter and as it stands at the moment our son would have to quarantine on his own which of course is not an option! We are just really hoping that the Australian government will recognise single doses in teen...

SEN Tutor recommendation

Hi, does anyone have a tutor specialising in SEN/dyslexia that they could recommend? For my son in key stage 2. We've had a normal tutor before but think we really need someone who has expertise in SEN.

Thanks in advance

Re: Educational psychologist advice

Thanks so much all. Yes Annie Mitchelle is the one we've been recommended. Fingers crossed we'll be able to get in reasonably soon. Which list is the one mentioned?

Did you find that the results of the assessment helped your children longer term?

Educational psychologist advice

My 7 year old son's teacher has recommended we get him assessed by an educational psychologist because he's very behind in both English and maths and no amount of support groups in school and tutoring outside of school seems to be making enough difference. Does anyone have any experience with ed psy...

Re: Newton prep or state?

In response to you wanting to hear from any NP parents - I'm one and can't praise it highly enough. Every teacher, teaching assistant, department head etc that I have met has been approachable, caring and extremely thorough with the way they teach and the way they interact with the children and pare...

Re: What to burn in our fireplace

Ok thanks Goldhawk. Any idea where you can get smokeless wood from in case the council come knocking?! I'm assuming that is accepted fuel.

Re: What to burn in our fireplace

Thanks so much Bibbitybobbity - I wasn't sure how strict the 'no logs' rule was. I'd love to get your chimney sweeps number if that's possible - should I PM you?
