Re: asquiths jewellers

Sounds about right for that place. My sister said exactly the same and I have vowed never to return...how does a place like that make money in this day & age when their customer service is so poor?!

Re: asquiths jewellers / BEST & WORST EXPERIENCES ON N'COTE RD?

Sorry to hear of your poor experience...as it happens, my sister had a similarly bad experience with them but not for the same reason - she was just mucked around by them for ages and in the end took her business elsewhere. This is yet another shop on Northcote Road that takes its customers complete...

Re: Plus Rooms & Simply Extensions

I know someone who used Plus Rooms within the last year. All appeared to go fairly well although there was a little chasing that was required over this and that, towards the end of the project. Like any good company, they appear pretty busy which means they are always chomping at the bit to finish a...

Re: Recommendations for someone to replace a boiler

Just had my old boiler replaced by C. Anderson & Sons as Jeremy was unfortunately booked up for a few days (we really needed the work doing given we were suddenly without heat or hot water). All went well and the relief at getting a new boiler in is palpable. It makes me think that we should hav...

Re: Ice cream wars set to start on the Northcote Road

Hi Julian - I don't know that area particularly well to be honest with you but it does sound a bit boring to have so many agents in one run of commercial property. Mind you, I still think I would rather have a smart Hamptons estate agents window in place rather than an overpriced, poor customer focu...

Re: Ice cream wars set to start on the Northcote Road

Forgot about those...thanks for reminding me. I only go to Crew Clothing though to buy the odd shirt or 5 but they are getting pricey too at £50+ each for a casual, yet smart'ish, shirt. My wife goes to a couple of the clothes shops but only when there is a sale on (or at least, that is what she tel...

Re: Northcote Road Carnival Cancelled

Thanks to you, in particular, for your perspective and that of your husband as a local business owner. I heard much the same feedback when I canvassed a few local businesses when gauging what level of feedback to provide the Council with after this event had concluded and following on from my own pe...

Re: Northcote Road Carnival Cancelled

supergirl - i am delighted to hear you are in support of any future 'carnival'/celebration of summer/'recover from the riots of last summer' event should be held on Wandsworth Common going forward. It is relatively self-explanatory as why else do we have that large, 'common' space if not for such co...

Ice cream wars set to start on the Northcote Road

Has anyone else noticed that the old Italian deli on the corner is quickly becoming a gelati parlour? That will give us 2 exclusive, ice cream vendors within 100 yards of each other (and that excludes the Portugese cafe which I believe also sells fresh ice cream - so really 3). So now we are a road ...

Re: Amazon Kindle?

Very civilised indeed, particularly given the cost of a decent British newspaper in Spain...(I have use of a property there so understand your point completely but have wifi there so read them online in any case from the comfort of my sun lounger by the pool)! I think you have convinced me that the ...

Re: Amazon Kindle?

Thanks Snoopy! A very helpful review for me to think about. What is the battery life like? I have an iPhone and the battery appears to get killed by the 3G/WiFi option but it is better on a Kindle then?
