Re: School Mums Class Night Out - Any suggestions?

Cheese, art and wine painting club at the Althorp was awesome! Exactly as it says on the tin - eat cheese, drink wine, instructed painting and you take your work home. No experience required and the results were astounding, great teacher and so therapeutic. Also, Four Thieves in CJ for something a l...

Re: Honeywell School or local private prep?

Honeywell to Independent Secondary is more like 40%, to be accurate - and has been 40 to 50% for some time. Much of that is choice, since many are (rightly so) very happy with Bolingbroke as a State secondary option. http://fluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.com/FileCluster/HoneywellInfantJuni...

Re: Scam fundraising collector?

Yes, she did. Urgh - how disgusting! What balls to go and do that knowingly to people/families. Vile individual.

Re: Scam fundraising collector?

OMG!! Yes! I had the same. She’d been before and we were really nice, came in chatted to the kids. I did £5 at most. A young black girl, slightly chubby? Some story about her Grandma. My husband was in when she came back, kids recognised her and he said “wow, £20 is a lot” when I got home! Thank you...

Re: Honeywell School or local private prep?

Agree with the above. But just to add - Broomwood Hall (Girls) and Northcote Lodge (Boys) have an entry point at Year 4, age 8. This is where we moved our daughter, from Honeywell. The lower schools are mixed and then it goes to single sex at different sites/schools from Yr 4.

Re: Honeywell School or local private prep?

Muddlemoo’s point on not changing classes from Reception to Yr 6 is a very good one. Valid point, and an issue for us also.

Re: Honeywell School or local private prep?

All good advice above. We have done both, Honeywell until age 8 then moved to a prep - this was not our intent, it just turned out that our child would benefit from something different. Second child we’ll go Honeywell all the way through. Both are great options. Consider time to do the extra that is...

Re: Grappling with everyday life?

I bought this book for my Mum for Mother’s Day. Due to my own juggling act at home/work, Sam was even kind enough to drop it round (at 7pm at night!) to ensure delivery to Mum would be in time. Then had the good grace to applaud my 6 year old’s impromptu gymnastics show as we chatted. Lovely lady, g...

Another vote for City Social here too. Always nice to support your local chef, in addition to the great view and food!

Live-in au pair required

We are an SW11 family looking for a new au pair for our two daughters, aged 6 and 11. One child at secondary school, and the other at a very local primary school. Mother's job involves 3 days in the office, and some work from home. Please PM if this may be of interest to you or someone you know. Tha...

Could anyone recommend a handyman for a multitude of jobs as varied as doorbell wiring, spotlights, guttering and loft hatch issues (!)

Re: ENT specialist

We saw Dr Elliot Benjamin at the Cromwell for many years with my eldest daughter (grommets x 2, tonsil and adenoid removal). He’s the kindest man, and as a father of 4 (or 5?) himself, so good with children. We were very pleased with him, the operations and the results.

Live-in au pair needed - 2 school-age girls

We are a family of 4 living BTC, looking for a new live-in au pair. Starting September, or sooner if needed. We have two girls aged 11 and 5, so the job isn't overly demanding - just one to walk to/from school which is just around the corner. Light housework only; washing kids clothes, tidying rooms...
