Re: Basement conversion (Lambeth) - builder & fit out recommendations, and general advice

The rough rule of thumb is that the basement space is worth roughly 60% of the above ground space. I’m not sure what Herne Hill house prices are at the moment, but I’ve had a quick look on Rightmove let’s assume £1.3-1.5m for a 2,000sq ft house, which is £750/sq ft at the top end of the range The ba...

Re: Whose teenage kids are these? Persistent vandalism and drug use at the Bowling Green.

Julian, I think you mis-read my message I said ‘footfall’ not ‘football’ Because nothing puts teens off convening for nefarious activities like a steady stream of adults walking past Which is exactly what would have been achieved by a well-managed and legally-licensed premises. But by whipping up fe...

Re: Whose teenage kids are these? Persistent vandalism and drug use at the Bowling Green.

Chorister makes an extremely good point. There was a very simple way to have stopped this antisocial behaviour and to not let the facility become the go-to place for bored teens to smoke and get drunk, and the local NIMBY squad protested against it. Be careful what you wish for - by crying ‘what if’...

Re: Streatham Hill low traffic neighbourhood to be up and running mid August

Of course disabilities and mobility problems aren’t the same thing which is was why it was so surprising that you tried to claim they were in your initial post. Where you also tried to apply a national percentage despite the report very clearly stating a much lower London one. I think we can all agr...

Re: Toddler outdoor time in wandsworth common

Hi — we live between the commons and have a 2.5 year old. We are looking to get together with one or two other families with similar age children who are not attending nursery and whose parents are working from home (so, continuing to self-isolate), to try and get our kids a couple of ours of outdo...

Re: Separated and going on holiday?

It probably depends why you split. If he has had an affair and is going to spend the entire time messaging his mistress, I can’t imagine it would do your mental health any good. If it’s an amicable mutual split, it will probably be easier to deal with. Can you at least get separate rooms so the chil...

Re: Private scan

‘Chelsea/Battersea area’? The website says the address is Queenstown road - ie very much Battersea, but calls it ‘the Chelsea clinic’ ie a complete lie to make it sound fancy. And this is your first post. Are you connected with the clinic? The Women’s Wellness Clinic on Fulham Road opposite C&W (ie ...

Re: Norland nanny or NQN

It’s the wrong time of year for a NQN, and they all organise work through Norland (who charge a placement fee) so its best to contact them directly

Re: Private consultant recommendations - Guys / Lansdell

You can’t pre-book a room on the Kensington wing if you’re giving birth in the NHS ward, but if you’ve had an NHS birth, you can ask after the birth if they have any Kensington rooms available and then pay your £1500 a night for them But obviously the priority goes to Kensington wing patients so the...

Re: Noise related to South West Four (SW4) festival

Agreed. It was one weekend, and other than the tubes being busy, it was hardly an imposition. Our children had a little dance to the music while we were walking on the common, and we had a glass of wine in the garden listening to the music and remembering when we were young enough to go to festivals!

Re: Daughter invited away but family flying bus class

How old is your daughter?
It may not be as simple as just booking her an economy seat on her own if she is then counted as an unaccompanied minor
