Re: Blatant Fraud by Enforcement officer Leathwaite rd

I feel for you. Unfortunately this also happened to me when I parked in Brighton earlier this year. I was given one of those parking scratch card and display it correctly. There are just crooks out there and in the end I had no choice but to pay up. I think it is a scam that should be exposed to tte...

Re: How do you manage the holiday period with overseas in laws?

Like your husband I live far away from my family and really missed them especially at festive seasons. If the in-laws are pleasant people I would suck up and put up with them. At the end of the day my view is they are a lot older so it is “limited” time on how long you need to put up with them. Plus...

After Renovation Cleaning

Have anyone used a reliable cleaning company to do cleaning after renovation? We just finished our renovation and the builder used carpet protector on our tiled floor. Unfortunately this has left a lot of residual adhesive on our textured porcelain tile floor that seems to be impossible to remove ap...

Pregnancy in second trimester - Not gaining much weight - He

I am petite and 5 ft 3 in height, weighing 49.5-50kg (7.8 Stone) before I was pregnant. I am now in my 18 weeks but have not seen much weight gain since 2 weeks ago. I am around 52.5kg when I weighed in the morning, 53kg (8.3 stone) in the evening. The next morning it will be back around the same we...

Re: Private versus NHS for birth

Hi ladies, I had my 11 weeks combined test and scan at NHS yesterday and also went for a harmony test and vitality scan the same morning. When I was at the private clinic, the sonographer was able to do the scan over my tummy and I could see my baby clearly, and very active. 2 hours later when I wen...

Re: Private versus NHS for birth

Ladies, thank you so much for the advice and experience shared. I have decided to go down the route of giving birth at St Thomas, hopefully a water birth at the Home to Home centre, and have a private midwife with me throughout. Will probably splash out for a stay at the Westminster suite as after t...

Re: Typical Cost of a Private Birth

Thanks Sandra and ordinary girl for your response.

Sandra, do you have any neighbourhood midwives working near London Bridge that you can recommend? If not, how do I go about finding a neighbourhood midwife who will follow through my pregnancy?

Thank you.

Re: Private versus NHS for birth

Hi Ladies, thank you very much for sharing all the useful information. Have managed to speak to a friend who gave birth at St Thomas last September and was told the birth was good but post natal care was bad, more due to being in a 6 person ward with constant noise and activities. I think I will sti...

Typical Cost of a Private Birth

How much is the typical cost of a private birth including antenatal care and all the essential scans?

I have heard birth at Lindo Wing with antenatal care by consultant + scans + misc totalling to around £22k (for a normal birth, not c-sec). Is that typical?

Thank you.

Re: Private versus NHS for birth

Ladies, thanks for the response. SW15, are you planning to have NHS at C+W or will switch to the private wing for birth? I am at the moment really not sure if my house will be ready to move in by the time baby arrives, so will want to pick somewhere in between where I am and my new house. C+W are th...

Re: What couldn't you live without in your kitchen?

If you have enough space, you can consider putting your crockery in deep drawers rather than on shelves, so you don't have to move the front row items on the shelf to reach those at the back row. Hot water tap is absolutely useful. You can do without a kettle, which is one less thing on the kitchen ...

Re: Private versus NHS for birth

Thanks ladies for your reply. This is my first pregnancy and I am 37, so I desperately want this pregnancy and the child birth experience to be smooth. How does a private midwife work? Does it mean I can have my baby in the comfort of my own home? I am keen to have a water birth as two of my closed ...

Private versus NHS for birth

Hi all, I am 9 weeks pregnant and just had my first midwife visit at the St Thomas Hospital at Waterloo. I am a bit concerned about the level of support I will be getting as I get the feeling the unit is staffed by a lot of temp/agency staff. The appointment was booked without my knowledge and all I...
