Re: High flying lawyer sacks pregnant nanny - loses tribunal

I don't want anything that follows to be interpreted as in any way condoning this behaviour, and if people choose not to work for a firm in which someone like this is a partner then fine, but we are lucky enough to live under the rule of law, not mob rule, and certainly not rule by Daily Mail, and w...

Re: Police on bramfield road - any idea what happened?

Talkman - probably because you haven't been crossing a road with your phone glued to your ear at the same time as I was driving by doing boy racer impressions ………… And by the way, a few weeks ago someone jabbering obliviously on their phone on the pavement ran straight into a friend who had just had...

Re: Police on bramfield road - any idea what happened?

Talkman - if you don't mind me saying so, there are lots of other good reasons not to walk down the street with your phone glued to your ear, including not cannoning into other pedestrians and not getting run over when you walk out completely oblivious into oncoming traffic …………...

Re: Frustrating Managing Agents - any advice please?

You can make a formal complaint to the First Tier Property Tribunal https://www.gov.uk/courts-tribunals/first-tier-tribunal-property-chamber.  I'm not sure of the exact rules, but think you can make a complaint on your own, though obviously a group will have more impact.   That being said, I manage ...

Re: New Business Idea....your thoughts please

Take care.  It's a really, really crowded market.  And don't mistake the results of this survey for market research - what you will get is the views of self selected respondents (I've been involved with small businesses since the early 1980s).

Re: SW11 mugged at knifepoint in front of our 3 kids

Nothing of what follows should be taken as in any way minimising the awful experience you have had, or my admiration for you in setting it all out in such a coherent and practical way. But there is one further thing we can all do.  We have to indicate that we are willing to pay more in tax and counc...

You must be too young to know - and that actually makes you pretty lucky.  Sloaney Pony's comment is one of the great responses on this site!

Re: Plane noise around Clapham South

We live just off the Westside, north of Walsingham Place. It depends on the actual flight path in use, the wind and the types of plane.  If it's a string of 737s and the wind is in the wrong direction it can be a pain.  If it's an A380 and the wind is right you hardly hear it. But we're happy to cli...

A Fantastic Dining Experience

This is an unashamed recommendation for the Clink Restaurant in Brixton Prison.  Last night we went for their weekly (Thursday evenings) Gourmet Dinner and had a really good meal.  And it is in a very good cause - the charity trains prisoners for the catering business, helps them get jobs on release...

Re: Home Away (owners direct) nightmare

I am sure this is not a very helpful response when the experience is so recent and so raw, but this is an increasing issue with these sites which simply connect people, taking registration fees and / or a bit of commission on the way.  They cannot possibly verify each property, or tell if one side o...
