Re: Cyclist single mum recalls terrifying moment she thought she was going to die during crash with Tesco lorry in Claph

I too concede the space, and if necessary stop, and always try to remember the old guidance about giving a cyclist as much space as a car when overtaking.  But it really is an effort sometimes, because cyclists so often claim the moral high ground. A couple of years ago, in a car, I came out of one ...

Re: Wandsworth Resident parking permits - no renewal reminder and a parking ticket?

I don't know if it helps much but on their website it says that reminders come from DoNotReply_Wandsworth@tarantocloud.com which could easily be mistaken for junk mail, and it asks you to mrk it as a 'safe sender'.  It can't do any harm to do so, and may save this sort if nonsense.

Re: Cyclist single mum recalls terrifying moment she thought she was going to die during crash with Tesco lorry in Claph

Bathtub - but the sensors, which I paid to have fitted to provide additional safety, worked.  Why do you think it's called a blind spot?  Opening the driver's door "the Dutch way" (if you don't know what that is, look it up) certainly helps safety and everyone should be encouraged to do it.  The pas...

Re: Cyclist single mum recalls terrifying moment she thought she was going to die during crash with Tesco lorry in Claph

To Bathtub - well, I did make sure there was a clear space, by paying attention to the technology fitted to my car. I'm sorry, but it's nothing to do with being sensitive or insensitive, but rather to do with everyone on the road being as safe as possible.  Commonsense goes a long way, and also have...

Re: Cyclist single mum recalls terrifying moment she thought she was going to die during crash with Tesco lorry in Claph

This is awful and thank heavens she seems to be making a slow recovery. But if cyclists and vehicles are to share the same space, then cyclists simply have to learn never to come up on the inside of stationary or slow moving vehicles anywhere near a junction, even if they are not indicating.  A few ...

Re: Unpleasant elderly neighbour - help please

I think you must try to get help.  I believe Age UK has an advice line, so that may be a good place to start. The stuff about his views is very difficult, especially if you have small children, but no one is all bad.  I knew someone in a psychiatric hospital who solemnly told the wonderful, kind bla...

Re: High flying lawyer sacks pregnant nanny - loses tribunal

I don't want anything that follows to be interpreted as in any way condoning this behaviour, and if people choose not to work for a firm in which someone like this is a partner then fine, but we are lucky enough to live under the rule of law, not mob rule, and certainly not rule by Daily Mail, and w...

Re: Police on bramfield road - any idea what happened?

Talkman - probably because you haven't been crossing a road with your phone glued to your ear at the same time as I was driving by doing boy racer impressions ………… And by the way, a few weeks ago someone jabbering obliviously on their phone on the pavement ran straight into a friend who had just had...

Re: Police on bramfield road - any idea what happened?

Talkman - if you don't mind me saying so, there are lots of other good reasons not to walk down the street with your phone glued to your ear, including not cannoning into other pedestrians and not getting run over when you walk out completely oblivious into oncoming traffic …………...

Re: Frustrating Managing Agents - any advice please?

You can make a formal complaint to the First Tier Property Tribunal https://www.gov.uk/courts-tribunals/first-tier-tribunal-property-chamber.  I'm not sure of the exact rules, but think you can make a complaint on your own, though obviously a group will have more impact.   That being said, I manage ...

Re: New Business Idea....your thoughts please

Take care.  It's a really, really crowded market.  And don't mistake the results of this survey for market research - what you will get is the views of self selected respondents (I've been involved with small businesses since the early 1980s).
