Re: Marsha de Cordova speaks out after media mistake her for two other black MPs

@parsleysong - it was actually almost certainly a mistake caused by Getty Images mis-captioning pictures - I would be staggered if the sub-editor who put the piece together (or for that matter you or I) had any idea what any of these three MPs actually looked like (or many of the new intake either, ...

This all sounds to me like an attack of the 'cos I'ze is Black syndrome'.

I am a white man, and I have to say I think your comment is beyond ridiculous.  I didn't vote for Marsha de Cordova, but I think her response is measured, dignified and restrained.

Re: Wandsworth Parking Permits Issue!

I logged on to my account on the parking website to renew my permit a few days ago, and my resident's permit has disappeared - it's not showing!  I've emailed them and had an automated acknowledgement, but so far nothing else.  I'm quite willing to renew my permit, but need to know whether they have...

Re: New York hotel recommendations

The Elsyee is not bad especially in one of the superior rooms (deluxe or better) -  https://www.elyseehotel.com/en/  though I've only ever stayed there when I wanted somewhere to sleep rather than on leisure. But two words of caution - I'm not sure how it would be with a 9yo, though they are very ob...

Sadly the Blue City electric car sharing scheme is closing down next month, which will free up some of the Source London capacity.

Cheese and the Climate ...

Really pleased to discover today that Hamish Johnston has started charging 5p for paper bags with all profits going to Trinity Hospice "simply to make people think".

It's a tough choice - does one take a bag to benefit the Hospice, or refuse one to benefit the planet?

Re: New local campaign group, 'Parents for Future' tackling the climate emergency and protecting our children's future

@ParentsForFuture ... I appreciate your response.  I was actually expecting to get 'flamed' over my remarks about SUVs.  I'm afraid I can't look at the report on Facebook or follow you;  my background is IT and I am far, far too suspicious to join any social media, even including LinkedIn.  And I'm ...

Re: New local campaign group, 'Parents for Future' tackling the climate emergency and protecting our children's future

For anyone living around here there is big lesson pointing to a way to contribute. For about a decade up to 2017 emissions from passenger vehicles across the EU fell steadily. Since then they have been edging up again, for two reasons - about 10% of the rise has been caused by the switch from diesel...

Re: Northcote Music has closed - warehouse clearance on 18th and 19th January

Very, very sad - I heard one story of a man who went in to ask Andy about keyboards for his daughter.  Andy, never one to stint with sharing his expertise, spent half an hour explaining the pro and cons of each option.  The man then made a choice and started fiddling with his phone.  After a few sec...

Re: Rottweiler Wimbledon Common Incident - Appeal for witnesses

In that case to be honest I think you need to go to the police.  If they were out of your sight (as you seem to imply) then it is I suppose possible that your sons did something which irritated either the owner or the man, but nothing - absolutely nothing - excuses that response.  He may well be a d...

Re: Rottweiler Wimbledon Common Incident - Appeal for witnesses

Do you really mean the owner "set his Rottweiler on them" or do you mean that an out of control Rottweiler chased them until the owner called it back?  I suspect there is quite a big difference.

Color Laserjet for a local charity

I am likely to have a Color Laserjet Pro MFP M377 printer available in the next 3 - 4 weeks which I'd like to donate to a local charity.  It is in full working order but has some compatibility issues with Windows 10 64 bit Professional, especially when scanning.  If you are interested please pm me w...
