Set in truly outstanding grounds, this prestigious independent boys’ school feels almost like a small university. It’s large – 1,460 pupils (including 130 boarders), but somehow it works, although some boys may feel a little lost to begin with. Not surprisingly, there’s a huge emphasis on sporting achievement - they play every conceivable sport here from water polo to fencing - but the arts are also strong. CCF and Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme also on offer. Some bursaries/financial assistance on offer. Many boys take the school coaches from Wandsworth Common, Balham and the surrounding areas. Good results, and a good proportion of leavers go to Oxbridge. Entrance is by exam (English, Maths, verbal reasoning). 11 to 18.
