Mayfield gymnastics

Postby joolia » Fri May 01, 2015 9:17 am

Hi all, My daughter has been offered a place at Mayfield gymnastics after being on the waiting list for a long time. When I was first looking for gymnastics classes Mayfield seemed to be the favourite. My daughter has since started at another class which she loves so I am now unsure whether to move her. Can any one offer their recent experiences at Mayfield and help make our decision for us!
Many thanks
Julia x

hello, my daughter is at Mayfield Gymnastics ans loves it. They practice vault, beam, bars and floor in small groups ever week. The coaches seem good and they really help children progress to the best of their ability. However, if your daughter is happy in the club where she currently is I would keep her there - unless you really want to push her towards competitions later on - which Mayfield does give the opportunity to do for those children who wish to.

Re: Mayfield gymnastics - recent views?

Hello,

after being on a waiting list for about 18 months, we suddenly have an offer from Mayfield gymnastics club for my just turned 6 year old daughter and we are being asked to pay the fees by 10 June if we want to join...

I have asked if we can go and check out a class, but I just wondered if anyone has views on this club, or an experience to share? How pushy are they and how hard do they work the children? While I realise that gymnastics is a disciplined sport, I would like her to be in a supportive environment, so I guess that is my main concern, given her age.

TIA! x

My daughter has been at Mayfield since she was 4 and she is now 10. She is just a recreational gymnast and doesn't do competitions.

For us Mayfield has been great, not pushy at all. My daughter did a bit of pre-squad training for a term or so when she was about 7, but she didn't really like it and I don't think she was really good enough so we moved back to the recreational side. She has been happy ever since.

I can't comment on the competitive/squad side of things but the recreational gymnastics has been great for my daughter.

My daughter has been going to Mayfield for ~4 years and enjoys it. The coaches are lovely, and are very supportive of the girls who aren't competing in the squad. They have club competitions, and the girls design and practice their own routines with the coaches, which ours loved doing. We'll be sending our youngest there, presuming she can get in.

I'm not too sure how this works (posting comments on NVN) but hopefully this should help re query about Mayfield Gymnastics. My daughter has been going to Mayfield for the past 18 months now. We were very fortunate not to have to wait on a waitlist and she was enrolled into the squad, pretty quickly after our initial enquiry. Our daughter had previously been a member of another gym where she got increasingly frustrated as there wasn't enough 'technical' gym. She is keen on doing pure gym and competitions. No dance. No Disney. No drama...just gymnastics! This is what makes Mayfield a fab club for her. The equipment and coaches are brilliant too. Highly recommend for the real deal! - Proper gymnastics! :)
