Starting GCSEs - support at home

Postby puddingqueen » Tue Jul 30, 2024 10:33 am

Looking for any tips and advice for supporting my son as he enters year 10 in a state school.

He is doing well, but recent end of year exams were lower than hoped for and expected by the school.

I'm considering tutors for the weaker subjects, but are there other things I can do beyond getting the revision books and plenty of encouragement? I think it's a case of struggling to study effectively, getting organised and understanding what is required during revision periods.

I don't want to overreach, but help from the sidelines.

Thank you in advance for your wisdom!

Hi
Have a look at The Extraordinaries Club. The lady is retiring so if you join by 8th Aug you can download all content for 1 months subscription. After that it’s not available so do look now.

The CGP revising for gcse is also quite useful

Good luck

Hi there,

I am a private language tutor and I work with a variety of tutors in many homeschooling programmes. Among the tutors, there is often a tutor who supports the student solely with executive skills development, helping them become a stronger independent learner and, in particular, supporting them with preparation for exams.

I have a variety of contacts in my network who do this sort of work. Would you like me to put you in touch?

Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best wishes,
