Secondary school for child with ADHD

Postby gemima » Thu Nov 14, 2024 12:31 am

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me if they have a child with SEN that attends Bollingbroke Academy please?  I would love to know if they are good at helping your child as their website says, or do they just pay lip service like many schools?  Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey! I am a Bolingbroke parent and have seen your question this morning and asked a friend who has got a child with SEN at the school for her view (she doesn’t have a NVN account) so see her response below:

My view is that some children struggle, others thrive. The issue is that every child is so unique, as is their particular combination of needs, that it’s impossible to get a full picture from others’ experiences. Bad news travels far more easily than good, so there are of course plenty of stories of kids for whom the school wasn’t right. But there are also a great many kids who have received excellent support and have absolutely flourished. The only real way to tell is to get in touch with the SEN department, perhaps with your EHCP in hand, and ask them how they would assist with each of your child’s particular needs. Get a feel for the team and the environment - only you can tell how your child would or wouldn’t settle.

<!--td {border: 1px solid #cccccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->The school must have an individual approach and support for children with special needs. It would be helpful if the school could offer additional help with learning. Sometimes, you can use homework help services to ease your workload. I recently found a website where you can order help with homework, which can be helpful for a child, especially during the adaptation period. The service https://ca.edubirdie.com/do-my-homework-for-me offers a lot of information that can make life easier. This way you can avoid unwanted additional stress.
