Non-Nap Time Activity Suggestions Pls!

Postby EmmaVictoriaID » Thu Sep 13, 2012 7:24 pm

I'm desperately trying to find activities to fill my 14 month-olds week. He doesn't go to nursery but is nannied two days a week. Our favourite music class at Manor Arms, Streatham Do Ray Mini's is ending soon (big blub) and it's leaving a big gap.

Council run activities - rhyme times, soft play at Clapham, 1 o'clock clubs etc. all seem to fall within his nap times which are typically 9-10.30 and then 1-2.30, so I am keen to find 11.30am and 3pm onwards activities for him. We are based in Tooting so traffic/travel time has to be worked in to getting there too.

Does anyone have any ideas?? x

Hi there,

Babbling Bubbas classes might work for you. I run these at Sammy Duder on Webbs road at 3pm on a Wednesday for 9-16mths (also Mon mornings but fully booked now) and my road usually has parking spaces (just 2mins away). We have just a few spaces left (there's a max of ten in the group as I want them to get the most out of the sessions) and there are two other 14 mth olds in the group including my energetic son! I lead the groups (I'm a speech and language therapist) with lots of fun songs, rhymes, signing, puppets and props. We have instruments and bubbles too! Term has just started so if you fancy coming next weds to give it a try then let me know. You can see more info on my Postings under Activities or on the website http://www.bubbaboogroups.com (which has testimonials etc) and you can email me at bubbaboogroups@gmail.com. Hope that might be helpful! Vicky

Tooting library used to do a rhyme time on thursdays at 11.30. Otherwise, how about tooting leisure centre children's pool? They normally have open sessions at 12.15 and 3.00 or 3.30. I had a similar problem when mine was about 8 - 11 months but eventually he dropped to 1 afternoon nap which allows for fun morning activities.

It's always a tough one to fill your time and I'm looking forward to the day when my little one does some nursery sessions as I won't feel like I constantly have to plan every minute of the day!

There's so many groups around and so it's hard to figure what's the best thing to do. There's not a huge amount of activities in the afternoon. The ones we go to in the afternoon are:-

Playball - Love it and you get to leave your child for a whole 45 minutes giving you coffee and relaxation time. They offer a variety of class times.

Artful Toddler - We do a 4pm class with them which will be brilliant when the dark evenings set in. It's so well planned and thought out. It's also only £8.50 a class which when you think of the amount of materials they supply it's an amazing price. A lot of other classes charge the same if not more and you don't get to take anything home.

PM me if you want anymore details on the above. Good luck.

P.S - Latchmere pool is another great one.
