Kitchen Extension Design - need a "U value" Expert Post Reply

Hi everyone

Our current kitchen extension project involves a lot of glass and Lambeth Building Control say we will need a report demonstrating its insulation or U Value properties before the roof can be completed. Bit of a pain having already been granted planning approval and passed all the stages of Building Control so far and all because glass area in the extension walls/roof will exceed 25% of the floor area apparently.
So, if anyone has had to get a similar report we would be hugely grateful for a pointer in the direction of a qualified U Value expert who can advise on the insulation required.

you should be able to find some on line. equally lambeth should be able to recommend some. hopefully you havent started on site, as you may need to beef up spec of insulation in roof/walls etc to compensate.
you will need to know what glazing spec you are having etc.
they can be slow, and need quite a lot of design information to plug into their computer programme - do you have good quality drawings + specs you can provide?
it sounds like you are not using an architect, or if you are, not a very good one if they have thrown this on you.
