One of the most impressive state girls’ schools in the South East, and also one of the largest, with 1,300 pupils. Excellent atmosphere. Lots of after-school clubs and particularly strong at drama – the school often teams up with nearby Wilson’s for production. Girls are bright, well-mannered, confident and extremely smart. Unsurprisingly, competition for places is fierce. Roughly 20 minutes by train from Wandsworth Common or Balham. It’s a grammar, so entrance is by exam only (verbal reasoning and maths), no interview. Ages 11-18.
