Re: Anyone own a thermomix

My mum wouldn't stop harping on about hers and how I should get one. In the end she bought me a second hand one off eBay and it's still going strong. I do fancy the new one but it is very expensive. It's amazing for risotto, white sauce, pasta sauce (slices, cooks the onions, then you leave cooking ...

Re: Nursery funding

This has been the case for years (I remember discussing it 5/6 years ago), one local nursery closed because of it but the others worked around it. They can charge for extras like music & dance classes/teachers kids have at nursery. So you can have your 15 hours free and then pay for the 'extras'...

Re: Kitchen gadget advice sought!

If you host a demo you get some goodies, best get a few friends together and contact thermomix via the website for your local rep. Then if you buy one you'll get some free books or other items. They do a cookery school every once in a while too. My mum bought me a second hand one and she's got both ...

Re: Compulsory smocks

Mine did this before Xmas, I felt the same way (and I wouldn't have chosen a nursery with a uniform). Another parent felt the same so I nicely asked the head of the nursery if they were to wear them all day and ours are just for art (phew). They had worded the announcement of the introduction as if ...

Re: Husband won't help my sister with school fees

Is your sister asking? If she is, I think that's being unreasonable and if she's not, then it shouldn't affect your relationship with her as she may not know what's happening behind the scenes. How many children does she have? Private school costs a lot of money, you have to earn almost double, take...

Re: New kitchen / hot tap

Yes! Definitely worth having. Great for making pasta and veg as you never have to boil a kettle. Perfect for baby bottles (if you're at that stage) and if, like me, you drink a lot of tea, you don't waste time waiting. My little brother told me his friend had a tap put in that does sparkling water t...

Re: Holiday recs for summer 2016 - Neilson or Mark Warner

The Levante beach resort (mark Warner) is fab. I've been recommended Sani beach which looks a bit more up market but we opted for Levante again this year instead. Mark Warner do good deals (don't go through an agent as MW do their own flights and transfers) and if you mention Net Mums (pretend I did...

Re: ** HELP - 2 Engagement rings **

My husband bought a silver band with a pretty design on in Victoria station (!) and proposed with that. He knew I would want to design my own ring and it is nice to have something to propose with. I think you're better proposing without a ring than using earrings etc and she doesn't need it for the ...

Re: Kensington Wing at C&W - Consultant you recommend?

Are you sure that's right? Don't choose anyone just on price but that doesn't sound right and a lot more than I paid in 2007(Portland), 2008 & 2012 (both C&W). Hospital fees sound right. Call Keith Duncan, he's excellent and he has a good team at the Chelsea Birth Clinic including a female O...

Re: Pre-nup with husband?

I know quite a few people with a pre-nup, it is a sensible option for anyone with a lot of money or property. I presume you've had the conversation before so this shouldn't be a shock. If not, I agree with the angle that it's making sure that, if things didn't work out short term, the children would...

Great family holiday place

I recently went on a family holiday to Levante beach in Rhodes, Greece which is a Mark Warner resort and it was so good I wrote a review! It's so hard to decide where to go its good to have some recommendations and I see Annabel's been to another one and liked it too. Have a look at the review here:...

Re: Advice about nanny "perks" - extra income?

That's not normal. I've had a nanny for 6 years (2 different people) and never ever heard of that happening. If she's doing someone a favour and you're helping they should be coming to your house (and providing a double buggy in my opinion).

Re: Kensington Wing at C&W - Consultant you recommend?

I'm presuming based on the date of your post you made a decision - who did you go with? I thoroughly recommend Keith Duncan, I had 3 children (all emergency c-section) under his care. They work in teams and nick wales and Keith work together, so if you book in with Keith and he isn't available when ...
