Looking for Emanuel School Tutors Post Reply

Looking for any teachers/ tutors who are familiar with Yr7 curriculum at Emanuel school . We are thinking of doing a bit of pre-term prep across various subjects during the summer.

Seriously, of the summers to give your child a break this would be the one. They have just had the trauma of 11+ This is the summer to let them chill out and enjoy the downtime. Maybe seek out some other new students and organise a playdate but nothing more. IMHO obviously!

Actually tutoring across holidays is much better than cramming it across term times on top of the school day and stops the typical summer academic regression.

From memory, the first term of year 7 at Emanuel is quite tame. It’s getting them settled, going over year 6 topics etc. the hardest part is getting used to the school, rushing around the site to get to your classes on time. But educationally, it’s not strenuous and a lot of year 6 recap.

I feel sorry for your child. As Love Lipstick said it is one of the last worry free summers. My son has just done GCSEs in a very academic schools and we've never tutored or did any summer work, apart from last summer when he did a bit of revision. Good schools are very good at managing it, identifying who needs extra help and leveling things up / understanding students in the first year. My guess is that you either tutored your child to death to get him / her in and are now stressing they won't manage to keep up, or you are incredibly competitive and want her / him to be top from day one. Both very unhealthy. Your aggressive response to mild and not aggressive comments is also unhealthy

Yes, why exactly do you think you need to tutor at this stage? Before the school even begins?! I must admit I don't understand at all. I assume you got the school you wanted? So do you worry your child might struggle? It doesn't make any sense and I literally don't know anyone who tutored at this stage. Especially at this stage! I tend to agree - it sounds like an overtutored child who perhaps shouldn't be there at all? Or an overcompetitive overanxious parent. Can't get my head around it
